For my money as the law stands at the moment Cisse is not offside. If he had tried to control the ball he would become active. He went to but he didnt and even made a positive move to disengage from the game. He didnt prevent defenders from challenging for possesion so the fact that they stopped momentarily could be seen as poor defending - you dont play for the whistle is an axim thats as old as the hills, if you choose to ignore it you pay the price The real problem is that the law now involves even more interpretation than before by the match officials and its their complete inconsistency that creates confusion. Time to cut Morientes loose, for one reason or another its just not working for him. He never was going to be prolific, but even his support play cant justify another year. I honestly believe it would be better for both Morientes and Liverpool if he were to leave in the summer. Some things just never work out no matter how much you'd hope they would. As for Fowler, I'd give him a two year contract, he was never quick but he's always had the knack of being in the right place at the right time and its not down to luck. Its a great gift and one that will always be important to us in key games

I'd love Arsenal to win the CL from simply a purists point of view. They are not exactly English so its hardly a nationalistic view but their outstanding football over the past few years deserves to be rewarded at the highest level. For me football is your emotional rollercoaster. A defeat at 2.00 pm Saturday afternoon puts a cloud over the rest of the weekend. I dont think now is the right time to question the ability of our strikers, the main trouble seems to be that there is a general lack of confidence running through the frontline and doubting the ability of the players is not going to help I'd persist with Peter Crouch as a striker, he's not prolific and I don't think he'll ever be but he is able to win the ball and keep possesion, with good service he has that aerial threat and can generally throw a spanner in the works for any back four. These are definitely attributes to his game and give us the options Benitez frequently refers to I believe that we need to be patient, its not working too well at the moment but there were few complaints until recently. Overall the team has improved since last year and we shouldn't expect miracles. Benitez values Crouch and I'm not going to disagree with that same applies with Morientes

I can't excuse this, we have some fans who are a real problem and there are some from every club. I hoped to read outright condemnation of this incident. Whats dissappointing, though not suprising, Ive also read denial delusion and blame avoidance Its really difficult especially when idiots like neville are involved but cant we live by our own standards and not drop to the level of others. With the greatest of respect I think you might have misread my post - I never referred to the smith injury but the behaviour of fans and the irony of being told to get perspective when others are calling this match a war would be funny if it were made in any other context
