  1. Milan's main threats nowadays are down the middle. In 2005 Cafu was a handful and Serginho coming on was quite a player too. Both still at the club now but both pretty old and rarely used. Oddo and Jankulovski are good players but not at that danger level. Therefore it is the midfield that really needs to be tackled. Kaka must be shackled and the work rate of Ambrosini, Gattuso and Seedorf match, not to forget trying to stop Pirlo from dictating play. That is why I think we need a hard-working midfield out there. Line up with Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano and Zenden/Riise and those are 4 who will work hard. Couple that wil Dirk and Crouch very able at tracking back and Milan will have a tough time of it.
  2. He wanted to kill Traore when Djimi claimed after Istanbul that the Milan players were celebrating at half-time. He said it was an insult that a player like Traore would insult a legend like Maldini by saying those things.
  3. I think we should start with Kuyt and Crouch. Both are hard working and tough to handle and the ageing Milan backline will find it very hard to deal with them. I'd go for: Reina Finnan CarrAgger Riise/Arbeloa Gerrard Alonso Mascherano Riise/Zenden Kuyt Crouch
  4. We are a better team than in 2005. They are an older team and also a weaker team than in 2005. Of course this means nothing as they were better than us 2yrs ago and we won, so we may be better than them and lose this time around. The good thing is that Milan are favourites once again. Also they are talking about revenge (Berlusconi last night said that they will take back the cup they CONCEDED to Liverpool 2yrs ago), have had a dismal year in the Serie A and are under great pressure to win something. All these things will work in our favour. It will be a much closer game. Istanbul was a one-off. It will not be 3-0 at HT and 3-3 FT again. I doubt anyone will lead 3-0 at one point and if someone did I do not think a comeback of that magnitude is repeatable. I'd say it will end 1-0, 2-1 or 2-0 to one of the teams......I'll say to Milan because I am a pessimist by nature and in 2005 I predicted we'd go out in all the rounds from 1/4 final onwards!
  5. He also lied blatantly about Rafa not talking to him in an effort to make him join us, thus trying to cover up his greediness with fake footballing reasons for going to play in the Championship next year.
  6. He is indeed a specialist and is also very consistent......at getting trounced when his team really needs to perform. That 1999 victory aside they've been: Trounced 4-0 by Barca in 1994 Been beaten home and away by Borussia Dortmund Eliminated by Monaco after thinking they did the hard work by drawing 0-0 away Got plastered by Real at home in 2000 Bayern got their vengeance in 2001 Bayer stunned them in 2002 Real plastered them once again in 2003 List is so long!
  7. You should surely know that talks about European Cup finals are out of their depth.
  8. We cannot compare points tallies as it would be flawed. The main reason is that we have been playing in 2nd gear for quite some time noe i.e. since we knew we were out of the running for a top 2 place and since it was increasingly obvious that we'd be in the top 4 come end of season. We may get 73 points this season but if we were closer to the 2nd placed team we may have been playing at a level that would win us 6-9 more points rather than rest players like we did on Saturday. All this does not mask the fact that we were out of the running for a top 2 spot pretty early on and that should be the main area of focus.

    Crouch

With no Carvalho there he can cause them a lot of problems.
  10. Sell Kuyt? Yeah right. Can see Bellamy leaving. Crouch could leave but I am not as convinced as I was a couple of months ago. Fowler will not be here next season. Kuyt-Voronin-Crouch- ? I think we will get 1-2 strikers in. Would not surprise me if Rafa kept Crouch, Kuyt amd brought in 3 including Voronin.
  11. Great idea Manx. Who would be ideal candidates for the job? Gazza, Adams and Merson?

    Pompey away

Realistically I think it will be: Reina Arbeloa Sami Carra/Agger Riise Pennant Sissoko Zenden Gonzalez Bellamy Fowler/Crouch
  16. We come out fighting at Anfield and it will be game on. Conceding a goal before we score could practically end it but we must remember the spirit of St. Ettienne, of Istanbul, the courage against the Chavs 2yrs ago. It is far from over. We score a goal and the place will be rocking. Let's just get Chelsea under pressure and see how they cope.

    David Villa

    Especially Italian relatives!
  18. If it is not a win then a draw with goals. 2-2 or 1-1 (the latter more possible).
  19. or 1-0 from a Terry back pass.

    Reina

Well in Pepe and co. A really solid back line and a confident keeper. I am really happy that he overcame the much exaggerated (by the media and some fans) shaky start to his season to recapture last year's form and to also improve. He is more composed, deals with crosses better etc.
  25. Kuyt Arbeloa Gonzalez
