Nice to see the support he is getting. He is a brilliant keeper IMO. His judgement to come out is superb and he stops many dangerous counter attacks before they amount to anything. Absolutely amazing reflexes as well as his outstanding anticipation make him indespensible. Wouldnt swap him for anyone, even Cech who i also think is outstanding. Considering they are both so young it will be interesting watching them compete in the years to come.

when i read this article the other morning i was left wondering why this journalist would write such a load of crap. The only reason i came up with was that he must have spent the whole week between the Bellamy/Riise incident and the game writing a succession of post mortem articles that he would release over the next few weeks/months. Of course the main theme of these articles was that Bellamy had destroyed the squad harmony. This alone was the reason we got spanked by Barcelona home and away. Obviously things didnt quite work out the way he wanted and despite having numerous articles ready to be printed as he had worked such long days and nights all week he had to bin them all and stay up late again and write another article. In his anger, this was obviously all he could come up with. The manc tosser

Who's going to buy him? Seeing as we have spent 8 months trying to get him right i would like to see if it has worked before we ship him out. TBH if it hasnt i cant see anyone buying him anyway so we would be stuck with him for next year anyway. Lets just hope his operations have worked and wish him luck cos if he is back it would save us a fortune. Quality left wingers arent easy to find at the moment.

Article on Liverpool, Chelsea, history and finances etc.
Skillz replied to Walrus's topic in Liverpool FC
That's a really well written post. I have a good mate who is a Chelsea fan and he hates it when he hears Anfield sing about their lack of history. I never use it to be honest as I do not think it is correct and the fact i worry that my mate might take to me with an Axe The point is it is a wind up. a bloody good one too and the fact that Chelsea supporters wave dollars back shows they get it for the most part. Why Samuel needs to write this is strange IMO but i am a long way away, but I would of thought he would get it. Obviously too many Chelsea fans have been complaining about it, if so they need wake up and smell the roses. -
You just know we are going to have a lot of possibilities going forward.............. for sure!

Perhaps controversial but IMO the Mancs goal fair and the disallowed goal was a good decision. when i say good decision i mean technically it was correct. Having said that a lot of the same gets missed, often, but he did appear to use his elbow/forearm to move him out of the way and if the Ref/linesman sees that he should pay it IMO. Admittedly i have only seen highlights.

Scot i see your point about it being leaked, but i disagree. What i see here is a journalist (James Ducker, The Times) reading the comments from Rafa on .tv and making wild assumptions. Rafa refers to his need to address Harry's confidence after such a lay off, actually means Rafa has had gutful and wants to ship him out. I not saying you are wrong here Scot, you may well be right but i find it easier to believe some journo has used his imagination based on those comments from Rafa. It is interesting that those comments have disappeared from .tv already but the rest of the worlds media are going with it anyway. Foxsports in Australia are even suggesting Rafa's comments were told to "the Times". To me it is just another example of media speculation BS growing from nothing
-
Possibly. This has crossed my mind. Even possible that if both club and player know he's crocked it is being orchestrated by both as Harry may win a longer, more valuable contract and we save 3mill in wages. If he's crocked though it will be interesting to see how he passes the medical at any club interested. If he's not crocked and turns up at another club and starts performing i will be well pissed off after we have finally given him the time to recuperate properly.

On the way to work this morning the local radio station had as its only sport story "reports from England are that LFC are looking to sell Harry Kewell". Am i missing something here? Is there a Rafa interview stating we want rid? or is all this coming from Rafa's comment "We have to wait for him to be close to being fit before we talk to him and give him support on the mental side of playing again.'' The Times take the above and write a speculative story and it is reported around the world. I see the original Rafa comments are not on the offal anymore as well. I know I should not be surprised by this but its a load BS. 1+1= 348

That's fair enough too. Like i said earlier in this thread if our medical team decide he has a minimal chance of being fit regularly going forward and we received a decent offer, i have no doubt we and Harry will accept it. It makes sense cos we wouldnt offer him a new contract in those conditions and he would therefore accept one. However if he does show signs of coming back any where near his potential i doubt we will sell after spending this year rehabilitating him. Like i said if we sell him i would not expect much from him where ever he goes. At least i hope not, i would spit it if he starts firing for someone else.

Spot on. I found it enlightening to hear Graham Arnold (Aust asstnt to Guus at the WC) say in the aftermath that Harry was by FAR the strongest mentally in our squad. He also mentioned how he "struggled to recover in time for games". READ injections. Why are both Australia and LFC working together now in his recovery. My guess is they have both mistreated him, and he himself has shown a will to play when he would of been smarter not too. End result is a badly out of shape world class winger. I hope the fact he has now had real time to recover he does come back, even at 80%.

On the 1st point i agree. Everything i have read about Septic Arthritis suggests it is an bacterial infection, not a deterioration in joints as we normally associate "arthritis". On your 2nd point i am unaware of the validity of it but there is no doubt Harry has played a lot of games over the last 3 1/2 years after an injection. He has been accused of a lack of bottle and worse for his performances during this time. If you are right it would explain why Harry has been allowed so much time to get himself right. If there is any truth in it at all it is just a shame he wasnt afforded that time Nov/Dec 03 when it all began.
-
Perhaps he'll be back for the Barcelona 2nd leg and start a miraculous comeback like he did against Olympiacos. He's not lived up to expectations, that goes without saying but he has had his moments. More than many care to remember.
-
Agree totally. In fact the only comment this season from Rafa regarding Harry's future here is that he has one. Having said that it will be interesting if Harry makes a return soon and plays well without starring drawing a couple of bids from clubs prepared to offer lucrative 3-4 year contracts. I doubt we will match that as we will want to see a longer term performance and quite possibly offer him a performance based contract. I have no doubt Harry wants to succeed here but there could be a vast gap in offers on the table and Harry would have doubts surely (although listening to him he seems to think he is bullet proof) as to his own longetivity. I'm speculating here but it is very interesting.
-
Not sure about that but i do seem to remember that happening but as a consequence of doiong the ops they found them. Pretty sure both ops were related to the Septic Arthritis but i could be wrong. There has been very little to go by. Even when Harry was in Australia for the ops he did the absolute minimum as far as media goes considering the demand for him. Whether the fragments caused the groin problems i have not seen anything about that. Hope its true cos it would be an easy fix.
-
Me too (thats obvious, i know ). Mainly because if he stays he has a chance of being at least close to the player he should of been. If we sell him i believe it would be due to our medical team deciding he is no longer capable of being that player. That for me would be a tragedy for us and Harry. He was a truly gifted player in his youth and would save us a lot of money replacing him. Hell i cant think of any players capable of replacing him (at 85%+) available.

Septic Arthritis and groin (as always). He apparantly had 2 operations on his foot and 1 on his groin in Australia. it was rumour the groin op was done by surgeons who had a new technique. They are based in Australia hence why he came over and tried this out. I suspect for this operation to work it involves a long rehabilitation and it was reportedhere at the time he would not be available until february, probably March. I would imagine it is the groin that is being given so much time to heal, seeing as it is the injury that continues to let him down so often. The septic arthritis (much like the sports hernia last year) is just plain unlucky. It would seem that LFC is giving him total support in getting this right once and for all. Thats why articles like this one are nothing but paper sellers because it shows a lack of research. LFC are fully behind his rehab and were always aware of when he was likely to be fit eg late feb, early March all going to plan. Its definitely last chance saloon for Harry but i for one do not believe LFC or Rafa are ready to offload him for 3mill this summer if he starts to show a full or near full recovery. If we do either we know he is stuffed for good and we would be lucky to sell if we could or we have lined up Ronaldinho as his replacement. Edit: Harry has not commented much on this but when he has always made a point of saying LFC has been brilliant in supporting him and he is determined to repay Rafa's faith/support in him.

Totally speculative article based on one line from Rafa on .tv. I prefer Rafa's comments from a couple a months ago where he said Harry had a future here. Anyway all will be revealed in time. Should point out that Harry said last Tuesday (while commentating Australia vs Denmark) he was about a month from playing. Personally think Rafa'a comments refer to Harry overcoming his ability to play freely without protecting his groin. It will take time for Harry to build confidence in the strength of it IMO.

Probably right actually. I wouldnt know to be honest. Like i said i was pissed.

No offense meant here but that is ignorant of the value of LFC. Liverpool are a global brand. I live on the other side of the world and they are huge yet not exploited. Name a 2nd division club you can build WORLD renowned club for less? LFC has huge turnover, great history, famous tradition and most important of all, the greatest supporters on the planet. Do not sell us short. If i was a billionaire i would of bid for LFC, not just because i was a supporter, because they are a great investment.

Personally i believe Parry will see out the construction of the stadium. This makes sense as he has been involved from the start and understands all the issues involved. After the big opening i would not be surprised if KOP have a new CEO in mind. Edit: Timing would be good also as they will have time to find the right replacement, having said that i would not be disappointed if he is still there.
