It was obvious that Blackburn wanted to do well. Our players seemed to think we'd win the game without much effort at Anfield. Only in the second half when Blackburn concentrated on defending we managed to put som pressure on them. I don't understand why people think Pennant was poor. He at least tried to create something and ran with the ball in the first half, while especially Gerrard just stood in the middle. I'll admit Pennant didn't get much out of his efforts and his crosses have seen better days but, as I've just said, he tried, which is more than you can give most of the players credit for, in the first half anyway. Aurelio clearly hasn't found his form in this league and the defence as a whole just doesn't work! It's almost on a regular basis that Finnan Carra Hyypiä and Aurelio (and Reina) aren't able to communicate. Reina made a crucial safe at the end though. Crouch up front didn't do much but I reckon is was because of poor support from the midfield. Really poor game despite the second half being a bit more entertaining than the first (which was abysmal!)... There's a lot of work to be done if we want to stand a chance against Man Utd next weekend. Not that they were anything but ordinary against Wigan today. Their first half was even poorer than ours! :shocking:
