    Agreed. Not a bad first half and we should be winning really as Matip's got to score there. Mane had a good chance too. Definitely missing a bit of guile in the final third where you'd normally have Coutinho or Lallana though.

    I think we haven't made a bid because we've been told unequivocally that he's not for sale. Or at least, not to us. Klopp isn't going to meet him if we've no intention of putting a bid in. I guess we just presumed they'd back down eventually but were wrong.

    Just woeful. It's not just a personnel thing either. Bringing in someone like VVD will obviously help but got to question the training or how much we actually work on defending, set pieces etc. I mean what on earth was Wijnaldum playing at there. It wasn't a difficult clearance ffs.

    If we're prepared to pay £68m for him and he was meant to be our main signing then can't see us backing out if we could get it done for £4m extra. Seems more likely they've told us not to bother with any further bids as he's absolutely not for sale. Like we'll be doing with Barca about Coutinho hopefully. Don't get the lack of other targets tho.

    It's common knowledge we won't meet their asking price? I thought it was common knowledge they don't have one.

    I dunno, they'll see him as key to qualifying for the CL again and having a decent run in it this year so that's probably worth more than the £22m they'd lose.

    That's why a centre back is the most important signing. With Matip/Lovren's injury record, Klavan could end up playing 25+ games. We could definitely do with another centre mid but at least we have 5 good options there at the moment.

    That include games at the end of the season though when they were concentrating on the Europa? Dunno though, I don't watch them much. Just remember them playing Chelsea without him and they played really well.

    Defo. We have 5 good options for the three centre mid positions (ideally we'd have 6) but as it stands and based on Lovren/Matip's fitness records, Klavan/Gomez could end up playing 20+ games next season. And that's before you even get to the matter of whether Lovren-Matip is a good enough partnership for (hopefully) challenging for the league and CL.

    Seeing as Salah predominantly plays on the right wonder what the plan is with Mane. Whether he'll start from the left or he'll switch Salah.

    I think he ends up there regardless unfortunately. Like you though, I don't think we'll sell him this summer. I'm not that confident though as Barca/Madrid normally get the players they want. Be an absolute disaster tho if he went this summer but hopefully the fact he's just signed a new contract puts it off for at least another year.
