I agree, the three or four of them worked so well together - the movement and creativity they provided, it was also very clear that almost everytime Caroll played we lost that edge and became quite predictable. ATM we are relying on Suarez, he is the only one who can really create something at times, either through his own work rate or skill. Adam has had his moments and Downing to a certain degree but nowhere near enough to justify there places.

I dont think anyone on here thinks he is a great player, but we need some energy in the middle of the park, someone to put in the tackles and help shield the defence. The reality is that despite spending a considerable sum we have no other options...this is even more of an issue with Gerrard out.

I wish we had kept Crouch, he was terrible in the air but was good on the deck and scored some good goals, at least when given service he posed a threat. As for Torres dont go there mate, though saying that I still cant help thinking just how good a partnership him and Suarez would have been...

All valid points, with Aggers record during the dark days (Hodgson) he has always said it how it is, though I am more inclined to believe there are no major issues in the squad yet. Though what is clear is that some players need benching as currently they appear to be starting every game regardless of form or contribution.

Whats even more concerning is that even with all the money we spent, Gerrard is still on a different level to anyone in our midfield, Lucas does his job well but other than that...not good enough. As plenty of others have said we need a midfield 3 with Lucas & Jay sitting and Adam playing further forward, at least then Adam doesnt need to try and look like he can tackle or track back.

But lets not forget - buying from the PL gets us players who can hit the ground running and require minimal time to bed in...oh hang on... Just a bit hacked off with the situation we are in atm, we all had doubts about the players we were looking to buy this summer. I am sure there are numerous factors, the situation with Raul and Adam sums it up really, we got rid of a player who provided some creativity and linked up well with Luis and replaced him with Adam, a player who looks knackered after 60odd mins and cant tackle. We need to strengthen in a number of areas: CB CM destroyer AM CF Though I have my doubts about whether we are going to splash the cash, I dont think we will tbh. If we are going to get into CM fantasy territory, can i say Benega & Mvilla...they would transform our midfield and with Lucas and Mvilla as the two provide a good shield to the defence. Never going to happen though.

Thats what I think needs to happen, we have been unlucky in certain games but I think we have been persevering with certain players who havent really performed, sometimes players need to be benched to give them a kick up the a*** Yep

I wasnt aware of that stat, Lucas wasnt exactly great today but he does seem to be the only one covering the ground and trying to help out the defence at times, Adam is too often seen strolling about up the pitch while the opposition midfields run right past him.

Yep, Lucas needs Jay alongside him because Adam doesnt tackle for most of the game, I think he made about two in the whole game today. He also gets pushed off the ball too easily, happened again today and against Norwich before they scored IIRC, he appears to try to do the Didi crumple but just looks like he has fallen over because he is too knackered.

Alot of us expressed doubts about our business this summer, we absolutely need some guile and attacking flair in midfield along with a proper destroyer ala Masch, it cant always be Lucas to carry the whole f***ing midfield every week
