  7. Have only read the first page but, do you all remember the Brazil team of 1982, or the AC Milan of the first half of Istanbul? Or the Dalglish team with Barnes and Beardsley? Football is much more complicated than beinga slick passing team like arsenal. It is beautiful to watch. It is technically amazing. But there was beauty in the rest of the istanbul final. There was beauty in David Narey's goal to make it 1-0. Though it pains me to say it there was something to be admired and respected in the Wimbledon team that won the FA Cup against us, against all odds. Let us not in the Sky age of sensationalism, forget that the winners don't always play the most beautiful stuff. We are still in striking distance of the top. We aren't playing well at the minute. But we have the class there. We have guts. We have huff and puff. And on our day we can still produce awe inspiring football. Now I admit we aren't doing that anywhere near as much as I would like. But its early in the season. Rafa's teams always start slow. We have a raft of new palyers, unaccostomed to their team mates and the system that our manager likes to employ. We have had injuries to our best ball playing defender and our most talented match controlling centre midfielder. These aren't excuses, these are all facts. We have to give it time. Its not that my expectations have dropped. But I get the feeling we aren't even in our stride yet. And until LFC have had the OPPORTUNITY to show that they aren't up it, I'm not getting too downhearted.I honestly don't think they ve had a chance yet.
  8. Good call on Ajax. As for Redknapp,am with you all the way.
  9. I don't think Redknapp has the intelligence or guile to manage a club like Liverpool, I really don't. He was a great servant to the club, but the days of promoting from with in and old boys are gone I'm afraid. We need top class managers, like Rafa, who've proved themselves at the top level in a top European league. I think the Shanks, Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish thing was a one off. I can't think of anywhere else in any other sport where there has been been a legacy and continuity like that. Happy to be corrected though. Having said all that though, Gary Mac is the kind of ex player it may be worth giving a chance to at a more junior level. Highly professional, passionate, undersatnding of heritage, intelligent.
  10. I think there were bout 100,000 at Burtonwood, which is an enormous number considering the size of Warrington.
  11. My Dad talks about seeing him box in an exhibition in Bank Park Warrington around that time. Think he came on a promotional and to see the GI's stationed at Burtonwood
  12. Got you. You make a good point. I'm a Crouch fan, but mayb he's not as good with this style of football. Has great feet though, and keeps scoring. Kept missing on Wed though, should have had 3.
  13. Funnily enough I thought about mentioning that era in my first post. The attacking from those goal clips and what I've seen so far this season reminds me of that era. I hope we can keep it going. also no Gerrard or Carra today, Crouchy not even on the bench. And we still dished out a pasting. Positive stuff.
  14. Great post. I can feel it too...
  15. Not sure what you mean about Crouchy. Just spoke to our kid, said the atmosphere was rocking, and the footy was fantastic. And Derby were s**** though. Will be swaggering all week...
  16. I thought Arbeloa was great yesterday tbh
  17. Sounds like constructive dismissal to me.
  18. There was a proper slimey lawyer on Sky this am saying he thought it would go in Heinz' favour if it got legal. Hilarious that Ferguson is pimping him round Europe for 4.5 if that is true. Rafa may just be pushing his buttons...
  19. Yep, get there an hour and a half before ko, its fine. Bit of a scrum on the way back, but not like getting a bus to town from outside the kop in the old days....

  21. Am with you on the inside part. On the outside I wouldn't want to see them on till kick off, although I'd have thought the advertising possibilities will mean they are on well before kick off. Went to Fulham and the Emirates last season. There were tv's everywhere. Its a bit chav.
  22. Cheers. Thats some interesting stuff. I wonder if there are any TV rights issues with showing the game outside the stadium. As you say, its done at big events in the US. Its would add to the atmosphere and be commerically quite lucrative I'd imagine. They did it at the Germany WC to great efect, why not here? The plaza on the Kop sounds a trip. Shame if it doesn't happen. I get the feling that despite comments to the contrary, the architects will have built in the possibility for further expansion further down the line (those corners look like they are asking to be filled in, whatever has been said). Exciting times ahead either way. I'm actually seriously considering moving back to the North West in 2010 to take advantage. Provided there are enough season tickets that is...
  23. Can you tell us a little more about what the plans were for this plaza NYR? Is there a possibility of it being added later?
  24. Looks like Max from Max and Paddy. Well on side, the defender on the far side clearly playing him on. He didn't smile much when he signed, he was grinning all the way through that.
  25. Couldn't stop smiling. Looks delighted to be a red. Nice to see some early positive vibes. Think he's going to be great for us.
