I don't think Redknapp has the intelligence or guile to manage a club like Liverpool, I really don't. He was a great servant to the club, but the days of promoting from with in and old boys are gone I'm afraid. We need top class managers, like Rafa, who've proved themselves at the top level in a top European league. I think the Shanks, Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish thing was a one off. I can't think of anywhere else in any other sport where there has been been a legacy and continuity like that. Happy to be corrected though. Having said all that though, Gary Mac is the kind of ex player it may be worth giving a chance to at a more junior level. Highly professional, passionate, undersatnding of heritage, intelligent.
