Or just pass the ball to him. Did he even touch it second half? Our best periods in games is always when we get him on the ball. That only happened for about 10 mins yesterday in the first half. Problem is we have no idea how to progress the ball and usually end up back at the keeper who then hoofs it. At which point having a creative number 10 is a waste of time. He's too weak and wasteful but he's not really helped by the number of players in the team who struggle with simple forward passes.

We scored just before half time but instead of riding that momentum into the 2nd half, we just got bullied. We can't control games at all. Too many poor passers and not enough fight.

It's a real problem for us that 3 players in that back 4 are poor passers. We're so easy to put under pressure. Brentford were good at closing us down but a team like ours shouldn't panic that easily. The only time this season we've looked comfortable was when Frankfurt threw in the towel (and possibly when Arsenal just stood back and waited). It's also not optimal that we have a creative number 10 but both Gakpo and Salah lack real pace and cut in all the time instead of making runs ahead of Wirtz. Too many players standing on each other's toes.

We look so easy to play against. Nothing works and we’re not putting up a fight. It’s not sustainable.

Get in! Great performance. We needed that. Wirtz was great. Shame he didn’t get a goal. Some great runs into the box that should have been rewarded. But at least he got his assist. Dom was brilliant too.
