I think it's only fair that Gerrard now gets to play in his most comfortable position i.e. in the centre. He's seems quite out of sorts by his own standards, and playing him out of position seems to only exasperate the problem. He looks like he could do with people getting behind him rather than on his back. He's not the only player playing below par.

But you can't really expect the players to be able to play in all games though? I think the real problem is we just don't have the quality and depth in the squad. In most cases we can't just bring a like-for-like player in and expect the same sort of quality. I'm sure Rafa is doing his best, but it all takes time if you don't have a infinite supply of funds.

It's quite sad to see, but you just seem to see it so much in the modern game. I think the days are gone when players will grin and bear it to show how hard they are.

It looked like he had a bit of an injury or something because he was hobbling a fair bit which may explain why he didn't look his usual mobile, cavalier self today. It's a team game so I think it's a bit unfair to single any one of the players out.

Why would Stevie G want to move to Chelsea? They are proving that they don't need him as they are doing very well without his services. At the end of the day you can only go so far up the league. If his motivation is proving he is the best then I can't see how he can achieve that going to Chelsea if they stay on track to win a few trophies this season. I wouldn't really have thought money was his motivation either as surely he has enough to make do with now. I can't see him being a legend there either as he isn't one of their own. So that pretty much leaves us with him wanting to win medals. Well he could do that, but going back to my first point, they could win medals without him so in a way he would be a bit of a periphery. He would have the medals but so what? They're just items to shove in a drawer. Muttley had medals but what did he ever do? I'm sure anyone could buy a medal off e-bay but it wouldn't really mean much as you haven't earned it. If he wants to win medals and actually earn them so they mean something and prove he is the best he will listen to his boss and stay. If my boss told me he was going to build a team around me I'd be pretty chuffed. He will also have the respect of his own fans and the footballing nation. People will know what he has gone through and what a cracking story it would be to tell his kid. There is only one logical outcome to all this for me.
