In order to move with the times here, I'm going to start writing out my posts, signing them, and faxing them to YNWA control centre to post on. That way, at least everyone can be sure they are authentic, and I'm sure Dave G won't mind the extra work...

Every time I see Alves play, I wonder what the hell he's doing playing in a defensive position! If you describe his weaknesses they are all to do with defending - play the lad on the right wing and give him free reign, I think he'll be absolutely unstoppable. Tons of pace, stamina, skill and never stops - he's made for English football. I get the feeling Rafa thinks that as well...

They'd wheel Raul round the pitch on his gurney if he broke his leg...

Wasn't he rated around 20m a season ago when we bought Agger ?

Who is the current manager at Hamburg? Clearly doing a great job whoever it is. Although unless his name is Hans Hamburger it isn't anywhere near as good as that of Bundesliga legend Wolfgang Wolf who managed Wolfsburg not that long ago... -

Yes - he was a popular name around the time when every gobschite thought saying we needed a centre-half with pace made him a football genius. Get rid of the defensive rock Hyypia, bring in any Tom, Dick or Harry who can run fast. F*cking genius alright. -
I'd like to continue the German tributes by saying 'Farewalen das krumpler'.

You obviously haven't been on much recently Autumn - basically Elisha's source is Steven Gerrard, everything he posts is as near to gospel as you'll get without being texted by Rafa Benitez himself...

Can't say I'm familiar with Zapater - if I've seen him play I don't remember noticing him. Would be interested to hear our esteemed Spanish colleagues views on him; Figaro, Eskimo?

Just have to agree with everyone else, a fantastic servant to the club, and a player I'll always remember with great fondness. I will genuinely miss the famous Didi crumple; I hope he imparted the closely-guarded secret of the crumple to his apprentice Momo before he left. Farewell Didi, thanks for all the great memories and good luck mate, you will always be welcome at Anfield...

The squad needs less beefing up than it has in previous years, plus I'd presume Gonzalez and Paletta are already accounted for and wouldn't be included in the summer spending figure. Kuyt, Alves and Bellamy would probably cost somewhere in the region of £24m I'd think, which with sales shouldn't be out of the question. I'd be delighted with those three.

Kerzhakov about to sign for Sevilla CF

94 goals in 188 games - pretty damn useful. Only 23 as well. The new Shevchenko?... -
Good post mate, pretty much right in everything you say. Your contributions are only every now and again, but I've noticed they are always very good indeed. I wouldn't call it pompous at all.

You're not qualified to talk about football, doesn't stop you now does it? If you don't agree with what I've said then fine, but your dismissive tone is quite frankly very annoying. I'll quite happily admit I'm speculating somewhat wildly, but so what? My problem isn't with you reminding me I'm not a qualified physician, it's with you being such a pompous ars3.

We've been a CL club for years - even the finest lawyer in the world wouldn't be able to prove we aren't in the Champions League when we quite clearly are. I myself would love Bellamy here - particularly for £6m which is an absolute bargain...

Pocket pillock dismissing a post without actually giving any reasons or tackling any of the points in it = plain annoying. The chances of a player sustaining an injury like that twice from a nothing challenge must be a billion to one. Ergo there is almost certainly some physical reason behind this happening, I was merely speculating as to what that was. I can't hear any better theories coming from you clever clogs.

It's unbelievable the way it has happened twice, but then anyone's leg bent into those positions would cause the bone to break. I believe Cisse has problems with his balance; he seems to be knocked off balance very, very easily with both the serious injuries being cases in point. His body just kind of collapses and leaves the leg where it is, causing it to bend so severely. I've always said that is something which has affected his performances here as well. You'll notice Cisse never goes past players unless he pushes the ball past and runs right round the outside; his inability to beat players despite his lightning pace has actually been the biggest disappointment for me so I've thought a bit about why. The way I see it is he can't slalom between players because his body stays kind of upright and rigid, and as soon as he starts running alongside the defender they just ease him out because his centre of gravity is too high. I think if you look at both incidents his balance isn't right to end up on the angle he does. The poor lad though - get well soon Djibs. Bad news for us as a club as well, but I'd hope this shouldn't affect Rafa's plans. We need to push on regardless...

Your Top 3 Favourite Non-LFC Goals...
Leo No.8 replied to Leo No.8 's topic in General Football Discussion
This 'YouTube' is quality isn't it? I haven't seen that Negrete goal since '86 but it always stuck in my mind! I remember the commentator screaming 'Neeeeegggreeeeeteeeee!'. The way he keeps it up first, plays the one-two then scissor-kicks it in - brilliant! Djorkaeff... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4Mjf9UNcdE...orkaeff%20inter And Van Basten of course... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ucps5WHfVPY...20basten%20goal Incredible technique on each one. -
Thing is about Carra - he's made for a world cup. The bigger the game, the more heroic a defender he becomes. During our CL winning run, the later the stage got, the better he became. In the semis and final, he was practically Superman - sometimes he was that far away from a player about to shoot or running in on goal you'd never believe he could get the tackle or block in, but he did. Ferdinand on the other hand is the opposite. The bigger the game, the more likely he is to f*ck up. I'll admit he did pretty well in the last World Cup, but on the big stage he has made plenty of mistakes which tend to be costly. If Sven played Carra alongside Terry he'd find it'd be against Brazil or Germany Carragher would find his best and become a human wall in front of the goal, when it was really needed. He is the man for the big occassion, and they don't come much bigger than this. Anyway, quite simply Carragher has been the best centre-half in the Premier League alongside Terry for the last couple of seasons, and one of the best in Europe. As Robbie says, I just don't know how Sven can leave him out, although I've come to accept he will do...

There was me thinking you were hovering a couple of feet above the floor, cross-legged in a state of Zen-like calm and feeling completely assured about Gerrard's injury, when in actual fact you were too busy worrying about Carra's age to pay it much attention...
-
I was expecting you to be 'slightly concerned' at least Kev, with a strong possibility of that escalating to 'very worried'. To see you being almost 'laid back' instead caused me to slip slightly off my seat. Is this a new, more relaxed Kev we're seeing this summer?

Selling Cisse for under half his market value would make us look like a bunch of complete clowns. This is a picture from the press conference at which we announce his sale for £3m: :clown: :clown: So, no I wouldn't sell him for that because of the knock-on effect it would have on other transfers, even though I'd be glad to have him off the wage bill. I'm sure we'll get £6m+ for him at least...

He was speaking highly of my performances in the Lancashire Amateur Cup at a sportsman's dinner the other week apparently, shame I missed it... He likes Gerrard because he's a hard tackler...
