Going back to the title of the thread ...... realistic goals for who we should buy One of the problems in this discussion is that we dont know whats realistic, because we're only taking an educated guess at how this potential investment might work out.

Bartons neither good enough or in posession of the right attitude. He's a thug. Lahm is a great shout, and with Alves on the other side we'd have a real attacking threat from both fullback positions. David Villa would be excellent although maybe Torres has more of the right attributes to cope in the premiership. A solid squad player to cover the central midfield would be handy too. Don't see why the three above players are unrealistic if DIC come in. Surely they'll be eager to create a positive impression straight away and assuage any negative feeling towards their investment. Bribery usually works well.

Yeah I appreciate that phenomenen but I think Robben for example is better than Ronaldo and I hate him and Chelsea as well. Liked the look of Quaresma for Porto the other night while we're discussing wingers

I think he has a great range of skills. But the reason I don't consider him to be 'great' is because he feels the need to try to display them all every time he recieves posession. Basically he's a show off, and he lacks real 'game intelligence' as Rafa might say. Transplant rooneys football brain into ronaldo and then you'd have a serious player. As I mentioned his end product is very average and I think he's a cheating odious little barsteward. I think he needs a good manager to curtail all the crap in his game and help him mature. But unfortunately Rafas going nowhere.

He would in his a***. His sole priority is to make himself look good. Pennant had a better season for Birmingham last year in terms of what he gave his team than Ronaldo had for United.

Fair point but it's only natural to get excited by the "possibilities" after all the false alarms over investment in the last couple of years

Can someone clear this up for me Are DIC likely to buy Moores shares and become the majority shareholder, or buy all the shares and become the sole owners of the club? Also are they likely to be conservative in terms of cash for transfers or extravagent ...... whats their modus operandi in the other businesses and sporting interests they're involved in?

If this Dubai investment goes through, is there scope to change the plans for the new stadium, or are they set in stone as per the planning permission we were granted? I ask this based on a trip to Dubai last year where the ethos seemed to be that everything they build was the biggest or the best of it's type anywhere. For example, the Burj Al Arab hotel, the World and Palms developments and the imminent construction of the worlds tallest building. Would they favour the same approach to the new ground?
