  1. I have to laugh at people bickering over OOTers getting tickets when..... Our new owners are American Our manager and coaching staff are largely Spanish We've players from Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mali, Denmark, Spain, Ireland, Wales, Italy, Norway, Finland, Holland and Australia We generate more revenue outside Liverpool than within We pride ourselves on our European pedigree We discussed investment with interested parties from Thailand, UAE, Ireland and America ....... Yet there are a few who gripe, half in jest/ half in earnest at people from outside the city picking up tickets.
  2. I'm all for a much bigger stadium but my only concern is that we might lose the intimacy of Anfield. The stadiums got to be big, got to be impressive, got to generate loads of extra revenue ......... but it's still got to be Anfield. I think we'd lose more than we'd gain if the unique atmosphere we have now was dilluted by a poor design of the new ground.
  3. I dont think we would in a charity game. If they turned up theyd be respected. IF they turned up!
  4. Kev, Could the club not set aside a dozen or so seats somewhere in the ground for cases like this? Or if that was viewed as an ackowledgement that it was ok to use touts, hire private security to dissuade people from dealing with them outside the ground? Am I being naeive?
  5. One of the best arguements for making the new stadium as big as possible is that it''ll help eradicate the scum who are robbing genuine fans blind Bad enough shelling out crazy money to a tout for a ticket, but then to find its a forgery must be heartbreaking. I especially feel bad for supporters coming from abroad to see a game for the first time who this happens to. Must create a terrible first impression of the city for them. Get as many seats as possible into the new ground and fill it with people who'll leave with a great experience and the touts out of business
  6. He's living in Boolavogue, just outside Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.
  7. yeah but surely if we have such a big waiting list for season tickets, it'd be madness not to capitilise on
  8. The other side to that argument is that providing the stadium is well designed can you imagine how bloody loud a big european night might be with almost 30,000 more fans in the ground
  9. Wonder if he'll be Rijkards replacement at Barcelona????
  10. Probably based on the amount of people who'll pile onto united just cos theyre united. Anyone who got us at 33/1 ........... nice one.
  11. mockers schmockers! Theres nobody better at preparing a team for a big one off game than Benitez. We've knocked out the best side in the world, and done it bloody well. And we've won it before................not that long ago. No reason not be positive ......... as the banner says ......... 'Make us Dream'
  12. I'd prefer if we were.
  13. ..... if while the mancs were celebrating winning the league, we sickened them by winning the European Cup. Again.
  14. Dunphys rant was a joke. Bear in mind this is the fella who famously stated that Platini was "a good player, not a great player" when he was at his peak. Giles however, is generally fair in his critiscms, and people who watch and listen to him regularly will know that he's consistently full of praise for Benitez. His newspaper article in the Herald the next day elaborated on his comments regarding our second half performance, but was prefaced by strong praise of Benitez. In a way he reminds me of Benitez. He'd seen us perform well and get a great result over the two legs, but still recognised room for improvement and focussed on that. Just like Rafa pulling aside players for constructive critiscism straight after some of our biggest results, like he did immediatly after the whistle blew after Juve away in 2005 for example.
  15. A lad I was talking to in work said Dunphy apologisd for his comments during coverage of the United game last night. Didn't see it myself......did he?
  16. In fairness to Giles he did say we were the better team over the two legs and deserved to go through. His critiscism was based on how we conceded posession in the second half rather than be ruthless and put away a team we were better than on the night. I think what he overlooks though is that firstly we were knackered; our work rate was incredible - and secondly we were playing to a classic Benitez gameplan. Have a go early on and try score - and we were very unlucky not to - and then contain them. There's simply no other manager in world football that prepares and sets up a team for a big big game better than Benitez.
  17. According to Graham Hunter on Irelands Newstalk Breakfast Show, we've been monitoring Torres and he's a target for us this summer. He's a bit of a whopper but I thought I'd pass it on.
  18. Crouch would score 20 plus if he played every game
  19. I think it SHOULD be publicised. If Liverpool fans did something similar I doubt it'd be kept quiet would it?
  20. Think I'd prefer to face a half fit Eto'o than a fully fit Saviloa, Gudjohnsen or Messi
  21. Yeah I was told that by a few locals alright. Think I might give it a miss, bit on the posh side for me.
  22. Whenever I tell someone that I was at the final in Istanbul, they always say it must have been amazing. And it was. But I always tell them that to be on the Kop that night was even better. They rarely believe me. I guess you had to be there.
  23. Anyone able to recommend a good pub in Limerick city centre to watch the game tonight?? Somewhere with a bit of atmosphere
  24. Great price that. Really can't understand how bookies, who rarely get it wrong, can underestimate us that much.
  25. Just looking at our odds for winning the Champions League with Paddy Power ....... 22/1 That seems very good value to me. Fair enough we've got to get past the best team in the competition first, but the flip side of that is if we do ( and I think we will ) then theyre gone. And at that stage so will half of all the other sides. Chelsea are 3/1, we're 22/1 ..... is there really that much of a gulf in class between us?
