  1. How did the Madrid and Sevilla games finish up??
  2. Yeah funny that. I've a good story about Quinn actually Few years back when he was playing for Sunderland I was out for a few pints with my cousin, his father in law and his brother in law who's from Sunderland and a serious fan We were in a quiet pub in Dublin ( scholars in Blackpitts if anyone knows it ) and the Sunderland bloke was ranting and raving about how schite Quinn was and how he was a waste of space, a c*** etc. Every time we tried to change the subject he went back to telling us how little he thought of Quinn. In the middle of his latest rant the door opens and in walks........................Niall Quinn. We twigged the lanky f***er straight away and simaltanously he copped yer mans Sunderland shirt. He comes straight over and shakes his hand while we tell him exactly how much stick yer mans just been giving him. he doesn't deny it and continues his rant face to face with Quinn. Unfazed Quinn proceeds to go to the bar and order us a round while grinning gormlessly and thanking us for our support. No irony or sarcasm in his voice at all. His desperation to be popular was so obvious
  3. That Eboue is a bit fond of swinging his arms Very good going forward but has a bit of an attitude about him
  4. There are an awful lot of people in Ireland who think Quinns a bit too sweet to be wholesome. I'm one of them. He strikes me as being desperate to be liked, to be popular, to always say and do the right thing. The cost of transporting those fans back will be covered by the club, won't cost Quinn a penny. But he'll gladly take the credit. Except of course when he was caught drink driving in Dublin, which was kept very quiet. It's not for no reason that a lot of his former teammates in the Irish setup find him a bit of a pain in the a***.
  5. This content is not viewable to guests.
  6. The whole thing is a bloody joke at the moment. They don't deserve to be playing in a atadium like Croke Park, didn't show anything to suggest it meant anything to them. Tolka Park is more their level.
  7. Thought the interviewer was very good. And Hicks came across well. Seems to be the more sensible of the two.
  8. Agger was a very good signing who rarely gets a mention. Think he's slotted in really well beside Carra.
  9. A Gerrard and Alves combination on the right would be as good as any in the world On the left I'm not too sure who fits the bill.
  10. Huntelaar? Trezeguet? Klose? Henry? I think Huntelaar could be a very shrewd signing if the price was right. Seems to be a goal machine
  11. What I find really interesting is that Rafas never really been given a blank chequebook before. He's always had to work within a budget at both Valencia and here, and has spent very wisely in terms of squad building and getting value for money. Now that he has a strong squad that doesn't need much bolstering, I can't wait to see who he'll target. I'd be stunned if the new owners don't smash our record transfer this summer window, but I've a nagging feeling Rafa won't go for the obvious targets like Villa, Etoo etc. Intreresting times ahead
  12. Thats an interesting point. We could build a 70 or 80 thousand ground but only sell 60 thousand tickets until the neccessary infrastructure was in place.
  13. Yeah but you'd still pick both of them in a Premiership XI and Fabregas and Toure would be strong contenders as well. Don't think Rooney has had a great season at all.
  14. No John Terry? Peter Cech? Not one Arsenal player? Think its a load of schite to be honest
  15. Barsteward!
  16. Was my username not a clue?
  17. Maybe my little rant went off on a bit of a tangent to the thread. However would you not agree that there's a degree of begrudgery among some locals in relation to people outside the city getting tickets, affecting the atmosphere etc. The label daytrippers indicates a distinction that reds from the city make between themselves and people from abroad who go to the odd match. Obviously locals who want tickets should be facilitated and everyone should sing their heart out if they're lucky enough to get a ticket. My point was we cant have it both ways. We're happy to bring in talent from all around the world and capitise financially on our global appeal, yet some people feel we should be a local club for local people. Kev ...... I live in Ireland and I don't find it that easy to get tickets. For the bigger games you usually have no option but to buy a travel/ticket & hotel package at rip off prices. Unless you've connected friends in Liverpool who are happy to give up their ticket, which very few would, its not that easy. I do accept that it must be irritating to see people less deserving than others get tickets for big games but thats one of the flipsides of success surely?
  18. Bit ironic that the idea was (allegedly) concieved by George W Bush isn't it?
  19. It didn't work anyway. Stick to name dropping and buying bits of hotels with cash. Your attempts at sarcasm are nowhere near as interesting.
  20. Pay more detail? Surely that should be 'pay more attention'? Know your pedantry sonny
  21. Re the concerns about traffic chaos as 80,000 leave the new stadium ......... Surely George and Tom have plans to keep a lot of fans in the ground and its concourse after games. Bars, shops, restaurants, bookies ..... all would make money and filter the crowd out gradually.
  22. He's right.
  23. Does anybody know how many hours Rafa works in a typical day or week. Reading Ballagues book on our CL win again and the attention to detail in match preperation is amazing
  24. Fair point re Croke Park, but Croke Park has a huge history, aura and mystique which is ingrained in every Irish person with even a passing interest in sport. When you go there you feel privileged, and that lends itself to special days and a great atmosphere. Much like standing on the Kop. Croke Park was upgraded. We're moving. The architect has a hell of a responsibilty to get it right.
