  2. Why has the Offal removed the original story about Aquilani and replaced it with this http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...090805-1649.htm Reading that it doesn't sound like everythings been agreed contrary to whats been reported everywhere else
  3. I missed that Crouchies got his Nachos story .... What happened?
  4. You'd have to presume with all the players arriving at Madrid that a lot of quality players are going to be surplus to requirements ... If they do manage to nab Alonso, what about Sneijder to fill the gap. Havent seen very much of him but for anyone who has how does he compare? Huntelaar as mentioned seems to be fairly prolific too
  5. What "Big Name" strikers are available? I cant think of too many
  6. Frank Lampard call radio show and has a go at the host. Worth a listen and have to say I've a bit more respect for him for doing this. http://mediaweb.musicradio.com/player/defa...=82&e=89636
  7. Fair play, be nice if that was acknowledged by the club in some way.
  8. Ronnie Whelan is incredibly negative and whingey about us. Seems to be a bit of a trend among a lot of our ex players.
  9. RTE's post match analysis focussed heavily on the merits of zonal marking from corners, which is fair enough cos we conceded two soft goals from corners. But their argument was based on the fact that when you mark zonally the defenders are static and you allow attacking players get a run on you which gives them a big advantage jumping for headers. Fair enough if it was true of the goals last night. But on the first Ivanovic was actually stopped his run and leaning back to get his header in and on the second he was static and simply unmarked. But like Sky and their 'rotation' and 'Gerard plays better in the centre of midfield' fixations, this fallacy formed the basis of their lengthy analysis. Watching last night I really thought it'd be a bloody good idea to have an educated supporter who watches the teams in question week in week out in the studio who could pull these 'experts' when they come out with 'facts' based on fiction.
  10. Emailed the show and got a reply from Ken Early, one of the main presenters. He's kindly set up a link for anyone here who wishes to listen, so fair play to him for taking the time to do that. http://www.yousendit.com/download/UmNMTmZZeDNrWTlMWEE9PQ Its worth a listen as is the show which as any of the Irish forumites probably know is always a good listen. The shows website is http://newstalk.ie/newstalk/off-the-ball/index.html
  11. Based on the (optimistic) assumption that if we win all our remaining games and get to 88 points we'll be champions I did the maths again. I'm sure this has been done to death already. As it stands United need to win 7 out of 8 remaining games to guarantee themselves the league. 7 wins, 1 loss gives them 89, 7 wins and 1 draw gives them 90 We cant catch them if they can do that. 6 wins and 2 draws for them, providing we win all our games will see us tied on 88 points and goal difference will decide it. If we win 6 and draw 1 we need them to lose twice and again it'll go to goal difference, which'd be a sweet way to win it and a sickener to lose it on, especially after beating them twice, 6 goals to 2 on aggregate. Based on that I'd disagree with the assumption by many that if we win all our remaining games we'll definitely be champions. We need to win them all and if we do with a good few goals along the way to give ourselves A CHANCE. Every games a cup final all the way to the finish now!
  12. Yeah it was very moving alright. One of the most poignant things I've seen in football.

  14. Not sure if anyones mentioned this elsewhere but Newstalk 106's Off The Ball show in Ireland did a feature last night on the coverage of Hillsborough by the tabloid press. I didn't catch it all but they spent some of the feature discussing what motivated that creep McKenzie to run his 'The Truth' story. They had Roy Greenslade who was deputy editor of the sun contributing and also a journalist who's name escapes me who's written about the history of tabloid journalism in the UK. From the 15 mins I heard the presenters who are always very good anyway, did a good job of educating anyone listening who's not aware of the real cause of the disaster and also the depths the sun and the daily star sank to in their reporting of the tragedy. The piece opened with Radio Citys reporter at the game relaying the events back to the studio. At that stage the scale of what was happening hadn't become apparant because he told his colleague in the studio with audible shock that he'd heard reports that there might have been one death. Off the Ball also have the Milan Madrid game where the Milan fans sing YNWA after 6 minutes as their video of the week http://newstalk.ie/newstalk/off-the-ball/downloads.html I'll email them and see if last nights piece can be downloaded or podcast. Worth a listen
