wonder will we see another departure or two if Keane signs this week ... Dont know what his credentials are like but Dave Usher has confirmed that what he's heard tallies with this guys information ... Another called Jerry St. Clair is claiming he heard it from Keane himself ...

fair enough but put it this way .... if you were managing a club that was involved in a major transfer with Liverpool and they offered you one of our centre backs in exchange .... you wouldnt take Sami would you/ You'd probably pick Carra, then Agger then Skrtel .... with Sami being fourth choice .... If it was a few years ago different story but legend that he is, he wont go on forever, unfortunately.

Can anyone remember what we paid for Lucas? I seem to remember it being 8m which if is correct seems like an awful lot of money for a player that'll probably end up playing second fiddle to Mascherano, Barry, Gerard and Alonso if we cant find a buyer. Based on what he showed last season I dont think hes a million miles away from stepping up and becoming a more regular member of the first team. Do we really need to be spending 18m on Barry when that money could be better spent elsewhere?

yeah cant argue with that ... he was excellent and is up there with the best we've ever had but in a 4-4-2 would you pick him ahead of any of the other three consistently over the course of a season?

Don't really see Arsenal winning it, United obviously will be there or thereabouts, but when you see Chelsea adding the likes of Deco and probably Robinho to a squad that was a few kicks of a ball away from a premiership/champions league double it shows what we're up against.

Punters who believed this to be true based on what they saw as the bookies opinion backed him ... And the bookies now have that money in their pockets .... So they got it right from their point of view ...

wonder will we see a 3-5-2 formation this season .... we've three quality centre backs now with Skrtel to compliment Carra and Agger along with the supposedly attackminded new fullbacks ... Mascerano, Gerard and Barry in the middle with Gerrard more advanced and Torres and Keane upfront ... could work very well ...

well if he's anywhere near as good as Pires was then he's top quality .... Pires was a top player during his time at Arsenal

Have to say I think buying Barry for the figures quoted would be madness if we dont shift Xabi ... He'd be a marginal improvment on Alonso, albeit maybe allowing us play a bit differently, but I cant help thinking 16-18m would be better spent on someone thatd bring us more cutting edge and goals ... To have Mascerano, Alonso, Barry, Lucas and Gerrard all competing for two central midfield slots seems wasteful ...
