emilly only scored 5 goals all season. was he injured, or just shocking?

    Second Place

I can't see anything but a united win against charlton who are dire at the mo. If we can finish within a point of utd I'd say that it shows enourmous strides for us this year compared to the gap last. It also totally backs up Rafa's claims that we are now as good as them.
  3. Someone should have a quiet word with him about his clobber.... And his hair/beard

    Chelsea

Chelsea have been very bad for football in england full stop.
  5. They deserve no respect whatsoever. There is no glory in what they've done. That bent russian fecker has spent HALF A BILLION EUROS in 3 years at that armpit of a club. They have effectively bought the title. Again. They are an obscenity.
  6. yeah but he was going to.
  7. you can't trust anything modern footballers say fullstop. Not just Mickey Owen. "How can I leave after all this"

    Cisse

He's shocking if you watch him live at a match. A more "non-liverpool" player you'd be hard-pressed to find - for all the reasons quoted above.
  10. They'll never overturn it. "Technically" it was violent conduct. Doesn't matter that it was handbags, the intent from both players was there. The FA rarely overturn ref's decisions.
  11. For sure!
  12. I had a nasty feeling that wouldn't go away about this match, so was mentally prepared for defeat. Despite what everyone thinks about the Mancs, Benfica knocked them out, they obviously have a team that plays with great heart and determination who were capable of holding out at anfield. Good luck to em' I say. Truth be told, I'm more worried about our morale coming out of the game than with actually missing out this year. We need to get over this very quickly, I'm feeling a bit queesy about the a*** on sunday and will be happy with a draw......

    New Stadium

So wild assumptions and guesses, re: mrjunk's last post. If it's morgan and AN other (let us say, for the sake of drama Kraft), wouldn't that mean a shared stadium solution? How would we feel about that if it gives us the finances (assuming the extra club money is connected to the stadium financing) to i) keep rafa ii) give us a war chest to challenge the revolting chavs.

    New Stadium

    Morgan and Kraft?
  15. It would be if it was just a small banner in the corner of the kop. It's huge. It covers the entire stand. It's a public statement that will require most of the kop to use their hands to unfurl it. By definition that means it will be seen as representing the entirety of the kop whether you like the thing or not. As I said, that changes it from being a private banner to a public statement.
  16. Sorry, I really can't go for all this "unless you made it, you can't criticise it" nonsense. people on here are quite happy to exercise their opinions on the new shirts badges etc. I really can't see that much of a difference. The fact that it's absolutely gonna be dominating the Kop by literally covering it, and it is already part of the national news agenda makes it a suitable topic for argument. Whether you agree with my points or not.
  17. Arrogant to have an opionion and provide argument to back it up? Jeez.
  18. ...you are joking aren't you?
  19. nonsense mate. So lots of people spending a lot of money on something means its beyond criticism? I didn't just slag it off, I gave reasons also. It wasn't some gut reaction. The tate gallery spent a lot of money on tracey emin's unmade bed, does that mean we can't criticise that as well? I don't think so. If images could be interpreted "any way you like" why do multinational firms spend millions of quid on logos i? It's precisely because they describe the culture of the thing they represent that we have entire design industries dedicated to making the things.
  20. Well, images carry meanings don't they? They suggest things like pride, fortitude or remembrance by the way they are designed. To me this says "manga comic culture", "facist eagle" and "arrogance". That's how I read it. These are things that I don't associate with the club. And to say that because someone has spent a lot of time designing it, and as such, it shouldn't be criticised is nonsense. It may have been designed with good intentions (the road to hell and all that) but what it says feels wrong. No is wrong. absolutely.
  21. it's a fans initiative, done through subscription, that's been supported by the club. I appreciate the effort and skill in the design. The underlying concept that points to, or describes the culture of the club and the city is wrong though. "It's only a banner" symbols are really important mate sorry, they help formulate our culture and give us a sense of who we are. That bird doesn't "feel" like it represents the culture of the club to me.
  22. looks like the kind of thing Lazio fans would come up with no disrespect to the fellas that organised it, but I really can't see how it reflects the clubs culture........ a crowing, psycho facist eagle. no thankyou. What I like about the old liverbird is that it's dignified, not showy. The new bird looks, I don't know kind of arrogant. Chelski fans would like it I'm sure....
  23. I really, really think it's naff. A "manga-style" liverbird? Do me a favour for feck's sake. It looks predatory, like some kind of demented facist (ultras) eagle, all wrong for a liverbird, doesn't fit with the club ethos or culture at all.
  24. I remember in the papers leading up to the game Malcolm Macdonald spouting off about what he was going to do with us. Ugly as feck with terrifying sideburns he was completely anonymous. I travelled down with my dad and grandad (who incidentally started on the guiness at breakfast time ). Very happy memories of a happier time (aside from the arab -israeli war, the imminent threat of nuclear destruction, crap food, terrible clothes etc.)
  25. some of us were there.
