  1. A 'soft spot'? More like a gaping hole

  3. I haven't seen anything in the Finnish media to back up the rumour that he's even considering a move. In January(?) all he said was that he'll think about the future after the season is over and if he feels he hasn't played enough, he might consider other options. His current contract runs out in 2008. I don't think he's going anywhere (unless he's sold), if he was thinking about leaving I'm sure he would have featured against Charlton...
  4. bobwright where the hell are you ?

  6. What analysis? All I asked was if anyone remembers a goalie having a stinker at Anfield. If you call that analysis, I have to You see, if an away goalie plays really well, it doesn't necessarily mean that we lose, or even draw. Our home record is second to none, but I think you'll find out that we've drawn a few games and even lost some over the years, so there's still room for improvement
  7. That's just it, even the crappiest of all crap keepers played well at Anfield... I rest my case. One explanation could be that opposing keepers are constantly tested at Anfield and therefore play better, there are no lapses of concentration etc. PS. I made a gaffe with the subject line, I originally had it as 'Opposing keepers...' but changed it. I never meant the question the tradition...
  8. Has any away goalie ever had a stinker at Anfield? Yesterday, once again, their 'keeper who was able to raise his game and pulled some fantastic saves. It happens so often it's untrue! There must have been the odd bad performance by the away team's keeper over the years. Scorelines like 7-0 (vs. Spurs) and 9-0 (vs. Palace) sound like this might have been the case, but not necessarily. "Careless hands" comes to mind, was that Gary Sprake? Oh, and Alonso's lob over the Newcy keeper this season. Jimmy Rimmer played a blinder for Arsenal and they beat us in the mid-seventies. After the game one journo witnessed him dropping his bag in the Anfield corridor and pointed out that it was the only thing he'd dropped all day. There are countless examples.

  10. Spit
  11. My concern is his discipline, he's great to watch as a neutral spectator, he has tremendous workrate and pace, but is he too much of an artist or a primadonna? All that diving and playacting might land him in trouble here. Still, I hope we'll get him and he matures and proves me wrong...
  12. That's not full games obviously. His 1400 minutes amounts to roughly 15 full games, so make that 15/7 and it's not bad considering his first outings were when he was not fully fit yet. Has scored a few in the French Cup as well.
  13. Hilarious! This thread. It's like a spittoon for some people
  14. Oh no, that's a bit too far-fetched, he's a just another Danish king.
  15. We only paid 750K for him and there might be some kind of a sell-on clause which would mean some dosh for the hard-up Leeds... Which is fair enough because if I remember correctly they were forced to sell a player at that point in order to survive.
  16. I remember Toshack differently. I can't remember him scoring many power headers like that. He had a fabulous 'feel' for the ball when he headed it, he could place it extremely accurately past the keeper or to Keegan (usually), or even delicately redirect a shot. But basically he just outjumped the defender(s) and had an amazing ability to linger in the air longer than anyone I have seen.
  17. There would be if he had a haircut...
  18. Did you miss the Real game?
  19. Found this. I take it the 'Les Notes' table is some kind of a rating (0-5) table. According to these stats Ribery hasn't been exactly setting the world on fire in the French Ligue 1 as he isn't among the top 9 OM players listed there... However, the table maybe only includes the players with most appearances... Anyway, Ribery has played 23 league games, scored 5 goals and been booked 6 times (now that sounds good!). Cisse has featured in 19 games, scored 7 goals (1 pen) and been booked 5 times (that doesn't sound too bad either...)
  20. You could be more consistent: Apr 22 2007, 23:37 he is s*** Apr 29 2007, 12:32 he is f***ing gash Today, 03:22 he is f***ing gash Today, 07:24 he is f***ing rubbish So is he 50% 'f***ing gash', 25% 's***' and 25% 'f***ing rubbish' or does the latest description override the previous ones?
  21. Djibril Cissé scored the winner tonight vs. Nancy, but it doesn't really count because the opposing team was playing with only 10 players... Probably just a tap-in anyway.
  22. His miss was not as shocking as Fowler's though... So if we judge players on the basis of one game... ALVES IS BETTER THAN GOD!
  23. Gaby? G-a-b-y!? Sounds like a German girl... Well he does have curly hair, but that sounds funny.
