With regards to Police action. The police got involoved with the Elliot and Saunders incident when that went to court and offered to get involved with Keane and that Man City player, but he declined to press charges. However, they were both career ending incidents really. Also the police have got involved with "Tunnel" incidents before so Yes the police can get invovled, but i think a complaint has to be raised first in situations like this. If Mendes goes to the police with an assault complaint, then I think they could charge Thatcher. However, in one similar incident before (Can't remember the palyers) one player said he was looking into assault charges, and there was a big backlash from old pro's, Rodney Marsh being one saying that the old "what happens on the field stays on the field" line. if there is gonna be a backlash from players wouldn't a pro think twice before bringing charges?. Personally, if I was Mendes and the FA did nothing, I WOULD bring charges and to be honest, as it is Thatcher, I don't think many other pro's would be that bothered. After all, they've got better footage than yer average black and white CTV grainy crap
