Question is, why take the risk of putting Defoe on such a downer by telling him he is suddenly behind Walcott in the pecking order if there is a big chance he will go to the tournament as well? He could easily have done it the other way around and got a much better reaction from the public, for one thing, but more importantly the two players themselves. Sven WILL take wooney, 100% sure of that. Defoe is a dead duck.

I doubt it. Be funny to see what would happen if Iran drew Israel, seeing as Iran doesn't recognise them as a nation it would have to be forfeited.

Last time they played, when Iran won 2-0, the whole country was jubilant, even arl women were following the game on radio and out on the streets after. Editorial in the Tehran papers ran a headline: "Now we are even!!!" Shame it won't happen this time.
