It wasn’t the same ref so god knows the rationale. I am massively into understanding that situations aren’t consistent, football is more difficult to officiate and people are going to complain regardless but refs are just so s*** and random.

This is a refereeing thing isn’t it. They said that Rodri one should have been given so it’s not the law on that occasion. Guardiola is (fairly) kicking off about that thing that Klopp always does where they play on when something is clearly offside. Now Stones is injured.

I’m all for doing whatever is effective. We probably do apply pressure to refs. Our manager is hardly a shrinking violet. Either way it was a pen so I don’t know the value in saying it changed the game.

Fantastic! Especially the way the team that gets the free kick is just like “Yeah. Obvs” It absolutely should mean the goal stands but do you really want that to be a pen forevermore? I would have taken it last night (although the t***s should have given a goal) but the game becomes so different to anything we know if pens are given for stuff that is no where near affecting anything.

That’s not how capitalism works. The revenue generated doesn’t have to be linked to the quality of the product. You can make football worse but get greater engagement and create more income streams. During Mourinho’s first two titles with Chelsea, Terry got 300% and 400% more goals respectively than he did the seasons before and after when they did not win the title. Also Virg scored 400% and 500% more goals in the 97 point and 99 point seasons respectively than the following one where we were awful. Jarg is right! The sole factor in league titles is how much your lead CB scores.
