we'd never have won number 5 without Biscan.

apparantly during the worl cup Carragher texted Bascombe to ask him how long Gary Neville was injured for. Bascombe replied "yeah sure, but you see him every day why don't you ask him?" carrgaher then texted back saying; "you don't think I talk to that c*** do you?"

Sell naming rights, secure loan on future ticket sales, get someone else to build it and lease it for a fixed period, before it reverts back to the club. Convertible bonds. just some of the financing options available, the question is is the risk worth it?

that reminds me of the text he sent to Bascombe during the world cup.
-
well it would be an alternative to sacking him.

Skysports Aurelio keen on Alves arrival By Tom Adams - Created on 13 Jul 2006 Liverpool new-boy Fabio Aurelio says Daniel Alves would be a 'great addition' to the squad, if The Reds can broker a deal for the Sevilla full back. The Brazilian has been targeted by Rafa Benitez as the Anfield chief looks to reinforce his right side, but the two clubs are currently failing to come to a compromise over a transfer fee. However Aurelio, himself a new signing after arriving from Valencia, believes it is imperative that Liverpool land his compatriot from the Uefa Cup winners. Speaking at a press conference where he was unveiled as a Liverpool player along with fellow new signing Gabriel Paletta, the 26-year-old spoke glowingly of Alves and the impact he could have for the FA Cup winners. "I've seen Daniel play in Spain and he's a fast, attack-minded full back and he would be a great addition to the Liverpool squad," said Aurelio in The Guardian. "It would be a huge positive for Liverpool if he were to come here too." Aurelio links up again with Benitez after reportedly rejecting the overtures of clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona, and the Samba star has immediately set out his intention to claim a Premiership winner's medal. "I've spent six years in Spain and I'm not coming directly from South America into a European league, and that should stand me in good stead for life in The Premiership, and allow me to be successful," Aurelio added. "The main objective is to win The Premiership. Liverpool have won the European Cup and the FA Cup in recent seasons, but the league championship has to be our main ambition. "It's probably going to be the most difficult trophy to win, too, but if you look at our squad, we're all working hard towards achieving it. "I won the league with Valencia and previously with Sao Paulo. Now I'm desperate to add the Premiership title." Paletta, who arrived from Argentinian outfit Banfield, is also keen to make an impression in England despite having to fight with Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia for a first team place. "This is a big challenge for me and I know I have made a big decision to move so far away from home at such a young age," said Paletta. "But it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down because this is a great club with a great manager. "I'm really excited about my future with Liverpool. I watched The Premiership on TV when I was in Argentina and I know what a great opportunity this is for me. "I know all about the club's history but the important thing now is the future and I'm delighted to be a part of it. "I consider myself to be a player for the future because I know I have a lot to learn, but at the same time I also want to challenge for a first team place as soon as possible to show the fans what I can do."

I wonder what this means for the "you can't sign for 2 clubs within a year" scenario?
-
technically he signed for Bolton apparantly, so presumably we send his regsitration on to bolton. He has now changed his mind and will go somewhere else. could this be the shortest time a player has ever been at a club?
-
maybe we're going to re-sign him?
-
everyone's copying from the offal website though.

Predictions for the Italian game fixing charges
Serko replied to growler's topic in General Football Discussion
I wonder if the teams know the outcome already as Juventus have sold Mutu to Fiorentina for £5.5million apparantly. -
So both Kirkland and Carson to go?
-
I think Aurelio will start if we don't buy another set-piece taker. we have lacked a decent set-piece taker for a while now and he looks like he can deliver a good ball.
-
to make it into the 23 man squad of the tournament. How the feck did he manage to get in after his displays against Sweden and Ecuador?
-
No Traore and Warnock option.
-
it says the buy back clause is activated in 2008. When does Finnan's contract run out?
-
When did George Graham become a referee?

last seasons squad at the start of the season Goalkeepers; Reina, dudek, Carson Right backs; Finnan, Josemi Centre Backs; Hyypia, Carragher, Traore, ???(whitbread maybe) Left Backs; Riise, Warnock, (traore) Right Mid; Gerrard, Garcia Centre mid; Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Hamman, (Zenden) Left midfield; Kewell, Riise, Zenden Strikers; Crouch, Ciise, Morientes, Pongolle This seasons squad as it stands Goalkeepers; Reina, dudek, Carson Right backs; Finnan, Kromkamp Centre Backs; Hyypia, Carragher, Palleta, Agger, Left Backs; Riise, Aurelio, Warnock Right Mid; Gerrard, Garcia Centre mid; Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Zenden Left midfield; Gonzalez, Kewell, Riise, Zenden Strikers; Crouch, Bellamy, Fowler, (Pongolle) My analysis is that the goalkeeping posititon hasn't improved, but it didn't need it. Right back Kromkamp is in ym view a better player than Josemi so improvement there. It seems that Rafa might want to improve this position further by pursuing Trabelsi (and Alves). Centre Back; definite improvemetn here, last year we had no back up to Sami and Jamie, but know we have talented youngsters who should be ready to play the odd game and gain experience. Left back; I haven't see anything of aurelio, so not sure if he's an improvement on Risse he should however increase the depth as he's bound to be better than Warnock/Traore. Right midfield; Still a problem that I'm confident rafa will sort this summer, if not we migth see Anderson get some games there this year. Centre midfield; Although Hamman didn't get many games last season we could miss his experience in the big matches. I expect we will sign a young midfielder or maybe Hobbs can make the step up from the reserves. Left midfield; definite improvement here with Gonzalez likely to take the first choice mantel away from Kewell, but real strength in depth with Aurelio and Riis also able to fill in. Strikers; Bellamy should be an improvement on Ciise and Fowler looked better tha Morientes last year. Would still expect another striker to come in this summer though.
