I haven't seen this anywhere yet. Rafa in the past has said that Paletta is more like Carragher and Agger more like Hyypia. if we play Agger it means Hyypia moves across to the right side, something he is quiet capable of doing and Agger does have more first team experience then Paletta. On the other hand Hyypia and Agger are fairly similar and we could miss a blocker/tackler. it's a difficult choice, but it's a testemant to the squad that rafa has put together that if we had had these injuries last year we would have had a back four of finnan(or Josemi if he's still unfit)---Hyypia, Traore and Warnock, which frightens me to death, with no real options on the bench either. My own personal choice would be Paletta as I see Hyypia and Agger to be too similar, but I wouldn't argue with either to be honest.

it'll be interesting to see what O'Neill can do with Villa now he (presumably) has a wad of cash to spend.

Rooney will also get a nice 3 game rest after the first PL game.

why is rooney being rested? it's not like man utd have got Champions league qualifiers or a community shield game?

On the bright side we get most of the tough games out of the way early.

Many believe that he won't be first choice for us anyway next season. I guess we will have to wait and see. also it's all relative, maybe we can't get a better player, but if we get a slightly worse player(which I don't think we will), but still quality and him going means we can bring in Kuyt then imo we are not weakening the teanm. If it's one of the two scenarios which one would you choose scenario 1; we keep Riise and don't have enough money for Kuyt so we don't get a new striker or we spend £6millionish on a lesser striker. Scenario 2; We sell Riise, buy Kuyt and spend £6million on further improvements. I know which Scenario I'd choose.(btw I'm not saying it's a choice between those to as I still think we'll get Kuyt regardless)

I find it strange that people are saying they won't take £10million for Riise. To me he is a good player, but still one of the, if not the weakest link of our team. We would then have the money we were prepared to pay for Kuyt availabel to strengthen other areas, maybe another left back or Alves? After all we do have Aurelio, warnock, agger and to a lesser extent Zenden who can all and have all played left back at various times in their career. Saying that I think it's paper talk, I can't see Chelsea coming in for him. just for explanation here's what I believe to be our strongest team -------------------------Reina Finnan--------Carragher---Hyypia----Riise/Aurelio Gerrard-------Alonso----Sissoko------gonzalez ----------------Crouch----Bellamy you can argue about the formation and have Pennant on the right, kewell on the left, Garcia on one of the wings etc etc, but imo whatever formation we play Riise is the weakest link. Lot's of stamina and commitment, but a top class player should be able to use both feet to an acceptbale standard.

Am i right in thinkin that it doesn't go into extra time and penalties and the spoils are shared if it's a draw after 90mins?

Being reported in lots of places and Juventus have just sigend Ibrahimovic, so I can see this one hapening.
