  1. Maybe he's not compared to you?

  5. Basically says we have no money to spend on big signings and the American owners want van Gaal as manager to blood the players from the reserves/academy. Well the paper mention he's Henry's choice.
  6. http://www.telegraaf.nl/telesport/voetbal/buitenlands/12187775/__Liverpool_wil_Van_Gaal__.html Basically it's saying they want him as trainer (coach). He was quoted at the weekend as saying " I get dozens of offers every month, but I'm waiting for the right one. I'm looking forward to working again".
  7. It came on the back of significant under investment over the proceeding 2 seasons. We had too many positions that needed filling. Unfortunatley too many didn'y pay off. However would we have been better off if we hadn't underinvested in previous seasons and so didn't need to rebuild large parts of the squad in 1 go? That table shows how well Newcastle have done recently. It shows it can be done with the right scouting and players hitting the ground running. It will be interesting to see if the likes of Ba and Ciise will be as prolific next season or whether they are 1 season wonders.
  8. I disagree regardless of how bad these players are it's still better to have them. What would we have done this season without Spearing? We need better players, but we shouldn't necessarily sell to upgrade. Strength in depth is what is required.
  9. no it's not. Hypothetically speaking Say Messi is avilable for £80million. Man city buy him and don't sell anyone. We buy him but sell suarez, Agger and Skrtel for £60million. We've both spent £80million, but we had to sell to buy it. Despite Torres poor form for Chelsea do you not think we'd have been a better squad with Torres and Carrol?
  10. We were also interested in Klopp and de Boer. Both who have ruled themselves out.
  11. I'm not convinced he will. I think a lot of manager's will see Liverpool as a poisoned chalice. Not in the CL, Maybe not much money to spend, and fans expecting a top 4 finish at the very minimum. A few bad results and the fans will be complaining that the manager isn't Kenny or Benitez. I think we'll get somebody out of work (Benitez, AVB, Capello) or somebody from a smaller club who wants to try the step-up (martinez, Lambert, etc).
  12. there's quotes in holland saying he's honoured, but staying at Ajax as he wants to finish the project. Here's the quote if anyone wnats to goole translate. 'Ik ben vereerd door het verzoek, maar ben pas net bezig met Ajax. In Amsterdam zijn we een nieuwe weg ingeslagen en die wil ik samen met de club en Wim Jonk en Dennis Bergkamp, mijn collega's uit het technische hart, tot een goed einde brengen. Daarom blijf ik de komende jaren trouw aan Ajax.'
  13. I can understand all the worry, especially after Masrtinez has been confirmed as linked(Whelan couldn't wait to call Sky about that). But let's not forget we had a dreadful season. As much as we all love Kenny if that had been any other manager we'd have been calling for him to be sacked. Kenny was out of management for over 10 years and a lot has chnaged since then. Spending big on English players from lesser clubs could have worked before, but time's have changed. I think we should give FSg the beenfit of the doubt until we actually find out what is happening. For example i'd be ok with Martinez if Rafa was there as DOF for example. Let's not forget that Martinez is just ine of the managers being linked. Guardiola, AVB, Capello have also been linked. Let's hope something is decided soon and then we can judge. I just hope we get behind the manager and give him a chance whoever it is.
  14. Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler on Twitter: "Ah well.....there's always the Olympic squad, I'll keep soldiering on..
  15. just as a comparison The Dutch squad have 162 league goals between them. The English squad has 102 (75 if you exclude Rooney who is suspended for the first 2 games)
  16. only 4 forwards, with one of them missing 2 games doesn't seem very sensible.

    Kenny

Maybe he said he wants to move upstairs. Kenny Director of Football and Rafa the manager.
  20. if it was thought out and pre-meditated. i.e he kicked out in order ot get a reaction and get a City player sent off then the punishment should be increased. How long did Di canio get for pushing the referee? IMO kicking Aguero like that is up there with that. He could have caused a brawl on the pitch and subsequently a riot in the stands.
  21. Was a text vote for people in the stadium I believe. I didn't notice Mata at all. I thought Ramires and Cech were the most likely contenders on their side.
  22. He was good when Spearing went off.
  23. Dowd was awful let them get away with so much time wasting. Also what happened near the end? when he gave a free kick when Suarez was fee in the box surely he should have played an advantage. Also why were the linesmen hugging at the end of the game? What was that all about?
