Maybe he thinks his plan B player should be worth £15 million (or however much we can sell him for). Also he might be happy to keep Carroll, but thinks it's only fair to tel him he'll be a bench warmer and has asked him if he's happy with that.

According to Wiki he got 6 goals in 30 appearances. Still not great, but 3 times better than 2 and a lot better than Downing.

if Sigurdsson signs and we don't sign any other midfielders I think he should be expecting to play most games. He'll be ahead of Cole, Adam, Aquilani, henderson and Shelvey in the pecking order.
