  5. That is a very sore point for me -- that Arsenal plays much better pass and move football than Liverpool. Actually to call Liverpool's current style of play pass and move would be stretching the definition.

  7. According to the end of match stats I saw on the ESPN Starsports telecast, Spurs had 51% of the ball possession. I am not sure whether to believe that.
  8. Don't scare me. If Kewell's foot *does* indeed look like that, I'd say his career is over. Here's an update on his latest round of *surgeries* (emphasis on the plural): ===== Liverpool's Kewell on the mend after Sydney surgery AFP September 24, 2006 SYDNEY (AFP) - Injured Liverpool midfielder Harry Kewell has said his football future was looking rosy after the first of a couple operations. The sidelined Australian international said Sunday he was finding it virtually impossible to walk from his bed to the shower in his family home here without pain, but shortly he will be ready to play again. Kewell spent his 28th birthday Friday in a recovery ward after undergoing toe and ankle surgery Thursday in Sydney. He is also expected to have a groin operation in Melbourne next week. "No question - I'll come back stronger, quicker and fitter," Kewell told Sydney's Sun-Herald newspaper. "I've been out for a long time and I'm hungry to come back into it - that's what I'm really looking forward to." Kewell has not played since June 22 when he helped Australia reach the second round of the World Cup in Germany with a late equalising goal in the Socceroos' 2-2 draw with Croatia. Kewell said he will consult a specialist Monday after surgery to strip the bone in the big toe on his left foot, which he says was "all smashed up". The toe had been attacked by septic arthritis, a bacterial infection. He said a surgeon also scraped a tendon in his right ankle to ease inflammation. Kewell said he will have a hip arthroscopy this week to ease pain in his troublesome groin. "I can walk around now but I have to be very, very careful," he said. "It's going to be a couple of weeks before I can do anything. "I'm in a bit of pain now but expect to be fine in a couple of days." Kewell said he was unsure when he would return to the pitch, but expects to spend at least two more weeks in Australia. He said his English club Liverpool has been supportive while he recovers from his injuries. "We've discussed everything since I've been out here," he said. "They know exactly what I'm doing and that's how we like it, we like to keep everything open. "They've been fantastic through the whole thing as well."

Heinz field, which replaced Three Rivers, is at least a slight improvement I guess.

  11. Wow. Lots of us have been waiting for several months, for concrete developments regarding major investment into Liverpool FC. I hope the next few days will be exciting for all the right reasons, besides thumping Newcastle!
  12. Dude, that looks like a very potent 3-2-3-3 formation, but 12 men against 11 is a little unfair.

    KT R.I.P

Well there I was thinking that if the book is indeed going to be released this season, then why isn't its author giving more details on the title of the book, its publisher, etc. Of course, that could mean the book is self-published, in which case its typographical quality is quite likely going to suffer. Mind you, the quality of content is not guaranteed to be high even if there is a publisher book deal signed.

Any concrete evidence that there is in fact a book contract signed with a publisher? Or will the book be a self-funded print run? Oh, I mean, "self" funded with the money received from prepayment?
  16. I notice that Bascombe makes the same argument as point (1) in his latest match report, stating that the increase in attacking verve, possibly at the expense of less clean sheets, is deliberate on Rafa's part.

  18. But now Parry has revealed that the £12m that will be gained from progressing through to the group stages has already been used as part of this summer's transfer budget. Is the club really that skint?
  19. Two players off injured within the first 25 minutes or so, hardly any proper pass and move football in the first half, poor link up play, little use of the wings, going behind to an early second half goal, only to draw level due an admittedly dubious penalty? My first reaction was, "Lucky!" We got one point from this poor game, and I think Rafa will give the players a wake up call and evaluate his own team selection. I don't think the next few games will see repeats like today (fingers crosses). Till then, move on and enjoy the rest of post-game evenings, yah?

  23. And, poor Kasey Keller. The "best goalkeeper in the world" has been let down by his teammates. Did I hear wrongly? I think I heard one of the experts insist that the USA should stop playing 3-5-2, and switch to 4-4-2 instead. Then again when today's starting lineup was announced it was supposed to be McBride upfront on his own as part of a 4-5-1?
