Match Topic Brighton vs Liverpool - Premier League, 19th May @ 8pm
Jim D replied to ynwa.tv 's topic in Liverpool FC
Listen, no one likes losing, but in context it's all rather meaningless. I can't wait for Virge to lift that trophy and the result tonight, Arsenal or Chelsea games in recent times is not going to make me enjoy it on less bit. I bet we had fans like this when we were dominant in the 80s. I think it was Cobs who showed Paisley's last seven games after we had pretty much already won the league. 2 points we only picked up during that time, I hate to imagine if we did that sort of run nowadays after being so far ahead in the league. -

It's embarrassing, as if these results have any bearing on the season itself. They don't matter anymore we've won the league. After beating Spurs to clinch it, why would you give a f***? We're in preseason mode and what is happening now has no effect on what will happen next season. When we lift the trophy in Sunday are you going to be thinking but we lost to Brighton!! Some fans are entitled, seriously. -

Who cares? We're playing on second string side like it's a 3rd round league cup/fa cup tie. We've dropped 8 points in our last three games and we'll still finish as champions easily. -

Nice watching a Liverpool game and not having to stress. -

They're f***ing awful and the fact they're one win away from the Champions League next season is a joke. -
League is bread and butter, always is, anything else is a bonus. Winning the title should be the main priority with CL 2nd. FA Cup and League Cup are great opportunities to play squad players, youngsters to gain experience and bring players back to fitness. Which was better, beating Spurs in Madrid in 2019 or beating Spurs at Anfield a couple of weeks ago? For me it was winning the league. Don't get me wrong I like winning big ears but it's secondary to winning the big one.

Oh SACK PAISLEY, that's relegation form, oh he resigned....
-
After all settling down my original thoughts on the booing hasn't changed. I think he shouldn't play in a Liverpool shirt ever again. He shouldn't be at the title celebrations nor the parade. It's becoming toxic and would be an unwelcome distraction from the main event, winning the league. Let him go to Madrid now for a small fee, keeping him any longer is just counter productive and could potentially spoil or put a little downer on us winning our 20th league title.

Play the reserves and get ready for the proper party against Crystal Palace. -
Wonder what Jurgen thinks about it all.
-
Was any player booed while playing for us under Hodgson?
-
I agree with you, I didn't boo while in the main stand under Houllier. It was bad under Hodgson if not worse. We got to be careful in how we judge them. It ain't black and white. Like I said I think it's classless but I understand it.
-
Which is why I cannot blame some of the supporters. Is it classless? Absolutely but who am I to judge how they feel?

There would be booing when he came on but I don't think Arne anticipated he would get booed while on the pitch. I was taken aback by that I'll be honest, it was classless but at the same time I'm not forking out a fortune to watch my team play while you see one of your own raking in millions and screwing over the club in their eyes. -
Yeah lad needs more games under his belt, just go to stay injury free. It's going to take time but he's not a direct Trent replacement. Still need a right back though in the summer.
-
I saw Houllier get booed whilst in the main stand years ago when he was bringing on Igor Biscan, don't remember who we were playing but that was ugly then.

Ahh hindsight, well I'm sure he's not going to do it again. I can't see how he can, I just don't want this s*** to ruin the title celebrations. -
Oh I'm total agreement with you because it has a detrimental effect on the team while playing but football has changed a lot. Fans pay a hell of a lot of money to see their team in the premier league.
-
Aye, like I'm not upset for him leaving, better players have left the club before, what I am only annoyed about is he is leaving and denying the club tens of millions of pounds in transfer fee so we can help strengthen the squad. Keegan, Rush, Souness, Torres, Suarez all left and wanted out but they didn't screw over the club. This situation is akin to McManaman or Owen.
-
Totally we need to focus on celebrating the title against Palace not have the Trent situation as a distraction. Arne shouldn't have played him but at the same time some fans shouldn't have booed him while on the pitch.
-
Think it's best he just goes now, let him go to Real for a small fee. I wouldn't want him in the squad on the last day of the season lifting the trophy or on the bus for the title celebrations. Bridges have been burned, it is what it is.

It is but as Arne said, he can't tell other people how to feel. It's not black and white. He's leaving his boyhood club and supposedly manufactured a situation to prevent his boyhood club from receiving tens of millions of pounds for him. It's a sly dig in the gut to some Liverpool fans. -

Agree, it's disappointing to let a two goal lead slip but who f***ing cares. Arsenal came for pride and deserved it second half. Anyone who is really annoyed by this, I know for a fact in Bob Paisley's last season as Liverpool game, he only took two points from his last seven games in the league and still was champions.
