From that article it suggests that the owners have given verbal assurances which have not then been forthcoming. Out of character for them surely?

Rafa has been here for five years now so presumably you have a view of whether he is the right man to take LFC forward or not. If your view is simply "see what happens next" then isn't that simply a form of knee-jerkism?

I think Setanta are doing their bit

I always think this is a pretty pointless debate. Winning football will in general tend be better football.

Maybe its all part of the process of building a winning mentality i.e. avoiding defeat. Its easier to turn a virtually undefeated team into a team of consistent winners than a team which wins some and loses some.

With City having so much wealth its important we field our most expensive players for this one

Where is FYDS when we need to be reassured that everything is for the best in this, the best of all possible worlds?

I never thought he was gesturing to the crowd at all - I saw it as directed to his team mates

Forgetting Danny Murphy?

I am sure no-one meant to cause any bouble

What difference will that make? If you don't know now after 5 years whether Rafa is a great manager then you never will.

Yeah that team yesterday looked poorly managed and motivated.

Right at this moment we could do with some old fashioned blind loyalty

Gray has I think been better this season but Keys is just snide.

Fans and players should get behind Rafa - at the game and everywhere else including forums. We need a siege mentality now.

Agree with this 100%

I think you'll find its colisseum

: Thats just scapegoatery

Agreed and of course I would always trust Rafa's judgement over Parry's on football matters. My point was though that it is simplistic to say that within a budget the manager will have complete control - there will always be a point where he will have to persuade people who know nothing of football to part with their money to pay for millions of £ worth of assets

Parry: Rafa your budget this season is £25m Rafa: But I need £35m Parry: For god's sake why? Rafa: Because I need to buy a really good striker for the clubb no? and Gareth Barry from Villa Parry: What striker do you want? Rafa: Keano no? Parry: Sorry but we've only got £25m Rafa: then I cannot work with this because it means I have to buy a sofa when I need a lamp and a sofa no?

I think it is naive to think that you can completely separate financial matters from footballing ones. If a manager is given complete freedom to spend within his allotted budget it would not be the end of the story - there would still be an argument about how big that budget should be. The manager would need to make a case based on the players he needs to buy and a decision would still need to be made about whether he really needs to buy player X for £20m or player Y for £10m.

I really don't like the fact that this is at the stage where it is in the public domain - it suggests a stand-off and we all know how that turned out at Valencia

With a fully fit and on form Torres we may

SSN reporting we have signed that Icelandic lad Victor Pallson

Armchair fans are the true fans. They have to put up with Richard Keys and Andy Gray to support their club.
