Watching it back, it's a clusterf*** where we're massively caught out - too much space between Lovren and Sakho, too much space in front of Lovren and Sakho. - but it probably fizzles out if Mignolet doesn't come out. Gerrard shouldn't be caught that high up, there shouldn't be that much space between the centre backs and Moreno shouldn't be that far up the pitch in the last minute when you're 1-0 up. Everyone got too excited.

Pretty sure you could put this lad anywhere on the pitch and he's fast enough to do it.

Bit mad that are two best centre backs are so similar and both so very left-sided. I really like Skrtel but I don't know how this is all meant to work.

Pleased for the following: Borini for making a big difference (ditto Lucas), Balotelli for his first goal after working his a*** off all game and against Villa and Alby Moreno who is my new favourite. Thought we played well, to be honest. They were just a good side who were organised and knew what they were about. We were sensible, some braindead defending aside and pulled them about.

Still young in a new league plus Villa basically played two left backs and a million other defenders, not much space for him to move in to.

I've got to think that dropping Sterling was because of some sports science thing. Has to be. When you're already missing Sturridge you don't willfully pull out your second best player for no good reason. No idea why Rodgers is so reticent to use the diamond, which has yielded the best results so far. Especially now we have actual full backs. Sterling running off Balotelli and Lambert causes more problems with options of Markovic and Lallana on the bench. Also, Lambert would be helpful defending corners. Just don't get it.

Conceding from corner is concerning but not scoring against Villa is more concerning.

Pretty certain Tony Evans is a lovely fella who obviously doesn't make stuff up but also think everything has an edge with him. He's very quick to pass on anything vaguely negative. Emre Can strolls too much. Lazar Markovic hasn't shown that explosiveness we expected. Imagine someone has probably said something similar to both these statements and they're probably people from the club. Just feel like he likes being dead, dead miserable. Just don't think he likes football or what it's become. Which is fine. Emre Can is beautiful, though.

I try not to think about that game too much. Probably the first time Brendan tried to get us to kill a game in the first 20 by being high tempo and attacking quickly but we just left ourselves so open with that team selection/formation. Just be sensible this time around. We're much better than these. Don't play to their strengths.

You want to occupy their central defenders with two forwards and let Sterling probe and find space. Their midfield is all legs and nothing else. Go the diamond and we can expose them.

As far as I agree with this, there are players who've earned it who still don't get songs. Think it's fine to have songs for your big signings and local lads, mind.

Only dipped my toe in here every once and a while but what is the general consensus on the summer? Obviously too early to be definitive but feels like they did a lot of good things.
