  1. Where would anyone get the impression of "sniping" - constructive input isn't "sniping", it's what it says. It isn't up to people to "put themselves forward", it's up to SOS to engage with the right mix of people who can bring the credibility required to promote each cause, in a comparable way with other such groups. Focus is also key and whilst SOS has contributed significantly to many worthwhile local initiatives, isn't the primary issue here to raise the profile of the plight of our club and the urgent need to resolve our current financial status? So maybe its necessary to engage with the kind of people who have expertise in this field and can demonstrate their credibility in the media, just as has happened with MUST.
  2. IMHO, if SOS is truly representative of all fans then I would agree, "every LFC fan should be a member of SOS". However some may recall that at the start, many felt they were alienated by the impression of a movement focussed on the interest of Liverpool based fans; someting which they have since tried hard to dispel. However if SOS is a common medium through which all fans can voice their opinion then it might consider increasing the bounds of inclusivity to people who more broadly represent the interests of the national and global fanbase. If we polled the YNWA membership on whether they are members of SOS, what would we envisage that percentage to be?
  3. This is a great idea but you need to appreciate the motives behind each group before you can evaluate the potential of a collaboration. We are a small group of fans, spread around the world but with a common interest in saving our club. Our limited budget is not really an issue if we have something we can truly contribute, which compliments the actions of other groups. We certainly tried hard to work with SOS on the billboards but the fact it didn't work doesn't mean we don't still share the same objectives - but we want to do domething as YNWA which is recognisable and says what WE feel.
  4. If you can't be bothered to read the posts in the thread then I can't really be bothered to answer.
  5. Whilst acknowledging the fact that the manager has (in hindsight) made bad buys, isn't it also true to say the the goalposts in terms of transfer budget have changed on several occasions with this ownership. I still believe that last summer the available budget changed after the purchase of Johnson and that led to the criticism against him viz not buying forwards instead. To say that Rafa has failed to manage his budget is harsh, given that he's rarely been clear what the budget actually is.
  6. I think RP is helpfully trying to explain that there aren't any newspapers in Fleet Street any more but I think your point is still well made!!
  7. Thanks for all your comments so far and here are a few of my own; 1. People aren't going to boycott matches, EVER. 2. People aren't going stop buying merchandise because they haven't got the message yet and we don't have the capacity to tell them. 3. Advertising locally is part of our problem; we need national focus and national support, otherwise it'll just be another accusation of "those Scousers feeling sorry for themselves again." 4. Do SOS really care what we think? 5. Whatever happened to Shareliverpool and where are they compared to the Red Knights after ALL this time? With a limited budget right now we can only aim for isolated targets and if RBS is the best then maybe that's where we should go; maybe a poster outside the RBS building might help but worded appropriately for that audience? If SOS can do anything it has to be educating the people of the town on what is happening to the club; if the Mancs can get 40-50,000 people shouting for the Glaziers to go, how come we can barely get 2-3,000? Isn't our plight more serious?
  8. Since the SOS decided to go ahead with their poster campaign without involving YNWA, the majority of the contributors have agreed to maintain their investment and trust us to decide what we would like to do for our own campaign. On this basis we want to ask for your input on what YNWA's protest against the owners should be, at a time when our future has never looked so bleak and to our extreme frustration, it could be argued the Mancs seem to be showing us the way to do things properly. So give us your thoughts on what type of protest you would favour and also if you haven't contributed then please think about it again; any amount is OK as we need as much as possible to mount a really effective campaign.
  9. IMHO think the only reason he kept Ngog on as long as he did was because he is more likely to "track back" than Babel, which I know is a negative but we weren't there to entertain, were we! Same old trap as always with Babel; one great shot and people think he should play more but the reality is that he can't defend, he certainly can't control or pass the ball and he only looked reasonable for 10 mins because of Arsenal's non-aggressive style - apart from that, I would have had him on from the start.

  12. Quite staggering isn't it those those who convince themselves a change is necessary, have confidence that change will lead to something better.

Why do referee's allow Delap twice as long to take a throw in as anybody else?

With respect, you really miss my point. It is my resolute and staunch defence of Liverpool FC, it's reputation and its principles. No media pundit has the right to tell me what my club should do with its manager and when my club decides what is best, that's when I'll take an interest.

But we're not "any other club" and it'll be a sad day when we allow that to change.

There's lesser clubs' fans who would choose this as a time to stick together and get behind the manager and the team. Maybe our fans will realise this..............
  17. I can completely understand it too but I don't think it has anything to do with the best interests of our club, which was my original point. Let's muse over who the guest pundits are today; i) Guus Hiddink? ii) Graeme Souness? iii) Ronnie Whelan? iv) Jamie Redknapp? v) Klinsmann? I can hardly wait............
  18. LOL, can't deny that! However it's interesting that they were all in a 2 team, third rate (with all due respect) league and the biggest budget by far. Doesn't that start to highlight the problem?
  19. Can't disagree with that but I think their views need to be presented with balance and the problem is that Sky don't want to do that. They are both players I admire for their achievements with the club but their views are something different; their coaching expertise is at best questionable and so they join a list of fans who believe "bad run = sack the manager" and therefore have no credibility at all, IMHO of course.
  20. Calls are growing to appoint Kenny Dalglish and Phil Thompson as the managerial team to drag Liverpool out of the mire. But surely there are two former-players who are far better-equipped: Ronnie Whelan and Graeme Souness. Coaching geniuses whose records dwarf Champions League, UEFA Cup, FA Cup and double La Liga winner Rafa Benitez, leaving them eminently qualified to denigrate the Spaniard. Who can forget Whelan's hugely-successful spell at Southend, when in 1996-7 he managed to win a staggering eight times in 46 league games, thus ensuring the first of their successive relegations to the bottom division, plus his own sacking? And Souness, whose 36 wins in 83 at Newcastle set him on course for the JobCentre and the Toon on course for the Championship. But the Anfield chiefs must act quick. After all it's been four years since Souness, and eight years since Whelan, were last employed as managers. Article
  21. I am struggling to come up with any of "Rafa's mates in the media". Ballague apart, there has most definitely been a desire amongst UK journalists to see the back of Rafa; I think most would suggest Big Sam as an ideal replacement and sadly most of that is down to good old Xenophobia. Just cast your minds back to how a series of "foreign" managers have been pilloried in the press over the years in comparison to "english" managers. What a great bloke Harry Redknapp is......... it doesn't count that the Mancs lost to a league 1 side and let's go along with "Big Sam's" assertions of Rafa's lack of respect. There was a time when Liverpool had the most money, which led to the purchase of players like Alun Evans, Kenny Dalglish, Mark Wright & Dean Saunders. These were amongst the star players and most expensive of their day and we were one of very few clubs who had he funds for their purchase. So money clearly does make a difference and it certainly would now - to suggest we've spent more than any of the other top teams in 5 years is laughable and in fact in the last 2 years, have we really spent more than Spurs, Villa & even Sunderland? Rafa had every reason to be confident with his squad in the summer; Alonso replaced by Aquilani & Arbeloa replaced by Johnson, what could possibly go wrong? Sadly injuries and poor form have dogged this 86 point squad and whilst a manager can take responsibility for tactics and selection, its unlikely that Rafa ever thought that things could get this bad. But pretty much from the first three games, the press have rolled out the same old stories; 1. Two-man team 2. Should never have sold Alonso 3. Let's drag the old LFC players who don't like Rafa (but failed miserably at management themselves) and present them as experts who only care about what's best for the club. There's something special about Liverpool Football Club and part of that has traditionally been the fans; if the press and incompetent owners succeed in changing this tradition, isn't it more than just this season which will suffer?
  22. Respectfully, isn't jumping what Bolton have just done and many before them with catastrophic results?
  23. IMHO very few fans accept what you describe as mediocrity but many don't necessarily subscribe to the view that the only way to change this is to replace the manager. No matter whose figures you believe, based on Rafa's budget when compared to the other so-called "top teams", we certainly DID punch above our weight last season and his success over 5 years by anyone's standards, surely can't be ignored and solely based on this season alone. I really don't see the best quality managers clamouring for this job under the circumstances but certainly those desperate for work would. My personal view is that Rafa will be here untl the end of the season, unless we lose the next 2 games. Whichever happens, Purslow will ask Kenny to assist in the process of selecting a new manager and act as the interim meanwhile. Of course the only likelyhood od a different outcome would be new ownership and that doesn't seem likely any time soon. I don't believe Rafa owes this club anything, in many ways similar to Houller but I suspect he is going to shortly reach a stage where he'll have had enough and he'll do what he wants to do. He is a man who loves the club and the city and has endured the owners and their imcompetence whilst still delivering on the pitch, until now. He doesn't stay for the money because he could earn as much if not more back in Spain or indeed in Italy. So my advice is be careful what you wish for because if Klinnsman was their choice 2 years ago, unless Kenny has an influence in the choice of a replacement, then you may end up feeling very sick indeed.
  24. Unless you can come up with a good reason Dave, I think he should play.
  25. No, he didn't call me!! (That's twice now.....)
