IMHO, given that it is 8 days until the next game, unless Torres is unfit I would defintely play him and the strongest team possible for this game today. By all means don't risk anyone carrying an injury but otherwise play the best eleven available.

I share your opinion on RvN Andy but if he's a solution to backing up Torres until the summer then I'll go for it. Sadly his reputation for diving isn't/wan't unique but given his age, he probably won't be so good at it now!!

Could there be some lumber if we fail to get a result against villa?
Bromage replied to Frosty Jack 's topic in Liverpool FC
It's difficult to answer the opening question without descending into a string of cliches! However this game is as important as the Wolves game, the Spurs game and probably every other game betwen now and the end of the season. We are 8 points behind Arsenal, who have a game in hand and if we believe we can secure a CL place by targetting the "also-rans" then we'll be deluding ourselves. So in all probability we can't afford another defeat if we have a chance of making 8-11 points up on the a*** and even draws need to be limited to maybe 2 or 3 maximum. Saturday was my first trip to Anfield for some weeks and I was shocked at the half-hearted singing attempts from the kop and early unwarranted criticism of Lucas & Johnson from both sides of the ground. When you are frequently confined to watching games on TV there always seems to be a greater volume coming from microphones by the away fans for "balance" but this was nothing of the sort - given our form I guess I'm not entirely surprised but it's disappointing. If we lose then things can't get much worse anyway; I guess the media will then target Rafa for his commitment to 4th spot and we'll get some more speculation but really it has to be transfer activity starting this weekend that's going to determine how much backing Rafa really has from the club and how much belief they have in his "plan". -
Surely the "Doss" is an option on the left, with Kuyt on the right?

Given that Rafa only took full control of the Academy this year, he's actually done a pretty good job of giving chances to those youngsters who ARE GOOD ENOUGH to risk in the premiership. Whether out of design or necessity, he's tried several from the reserves and youth team and is in my view, more than capable of deciding whether they are ready or not to stay in the first team squad. I thought Pacheco made a real difference last night and would do well with a regular place on the bench.

I think he chose Ngog over Voronin because Lyon had 2 slow defenders, due to injuries and Ngog should have had them for pace. Voronin would however have made them both look quick.

I suspect that with Stevie G probably out for the weekend, he wanted to rest Yossi who would drop into that position. Even if Aquilani plays for the reserves tonight, he won't be ready.

Probably already been said but there's no point in thinking that sacking Rafa solves all our problems, even if they could afford it. Who else of similar stature would come here knowing that the protests would be even worse? People need to see the efforts by people such as Sky Sports to place Rafa in the firing line; casual comments by Winter on Sunday about Rafa's "cold" nature have since been brought up constantly as fact and whose idea was it to bring Klinsmann on for the game last night? Even the BBC, including Alan Green, have started and I couldn't believe the crap that David Pleat, that long term student of all things LFC, was coming out with last night. I switched between their commentary and TalkSport's last night because of the poor radio reception and I could have been forgiven for thinking that I was listening to 2 different games! I'm no fan of Stan Collymore but he was far more positive about our performance that Green! This doesn't get any better until H&G have gone and the sooner ALL people here start to realise it and get behind what SOS is doing on this issue, the better.
