Rafa shows Kewell the door (!?)

Several newspaper claims that Rafa has put a £4million fee on Kewell, and told him that he can leave if there comes an offer for him.

What do you think? Rubbish? Would have been strange as Rafa had faith in him through his difficult time. I think Harry will become very important to us next season, as he can play in more than one position.

He's a creative player, works hard, keeps possesion and with a good pre-season under his belt, I'm sure he'll get some pace back too.

And £4mill? Come on gaffa, we can get more for him than that.. After the FA-Cup semi final, I'm sure Chelsea will pay at least £20! :P

I wouldn't rule anything out with Rafa.

For all we know, he may have the left wing equivalent of Alonso or Sissoko lined up. Of course Gonzalez and Aurelio are coming in and we look a bit overstocked on the left now.

I think he will stay but a player who has recurring injury problems like Harry may well have a price.

I can't see Rafa letting Kewell go, he's been one of his favourites and has always been first choice when he's fit. Obviously he'll be down the pecking order when Gonzalez comes in, but he can still do a job here. It's not as if the money we'd get would be enough to get a better replacement. Although it would free up some wages???? He's one of the highest paid players.

I think we'll see both players over the season and, sometimes, with HK on the right...

Well, that is his prefered position ;)

You think so?

I thought there was no doubt about it. Kewell is now first choice without question. There definitely will be doubts next year. In fact I can't see him starting any of our big games on the left, where as he's done so when available since Rafa came. Granted, Gonzo will take time to settle, and there's no guarantee to his success, but we havne't gone through so much trouble to get him, to leave him on the bench.

I think you underestimate how well Kewell has done down the left since getting back to full(ish) fitness a few months into the season. It'll be up to Gonzalez to oust him and as others have said Rafa is a big fan and has shown that he also willing to play him as a second striker. It wouldn't surprise me to see him pop up on the right either.

Yeah, he may possibly play elsewhere on the pitch. But I think Gonzo will nail down the LW, if he settles. Kewell has been good, but no more, he's not what he was when he first joined us. Granted he seems to be imporving as he gets his fitness back, but he still has a long way to go to being a top winger. He's better than most "wingers" that we've had in the past decade or so, but I'm not so sure he's been good enough to be first choice for an EPL winning team.

Potentially our most dangerous in-form player being usettled by the Cockney press 6 days before an FA Cup final against West Ham...who'd have thunk it.

I heard that he's been speaking to Valencia.

Now that he's showing what he can do and come good after all the injuries he's had :(

You would think that Rafa would have heard that as well then. He did say that he always wanted to play in spain so maybe, just maybe...

EPL is a horrible americanism

and I don't want any player for us to be (nick)named after a muppets character. Cept if they are called animal.

I can't see him leaving this season, however, if Gonzalez makes as bigger impact here as he has in Spain Harry will have to go some to overtake him IMO. Whilst I understand the "he can play in other positions" arguement I don't actually agree with it as I think we have better options in Garcia (behind the striker) and Gerrard (wide right). Granted should we not sign a RM Harry is another option though...
