Luis Garcia

he drinks sangria

he came from barca

to bring us joy

he's 5 ft 7,

he's football heaven

so please don't take my Luis away

Think that's split fairly evenly with "bring us joy" and the trend is more towards "to Liverpool".

Never heard the latter

Luis Garcia

Not as good as me-a

He always gives the, ball away

He gives possesion

to the opposition

Oh, please take our Luis away

I've heard a couple of versions:

'to bring us Joy', 'to bring us goals' or 'to Liverpool'

some say 5'7, some say 4'7

The original, started at Taksin (we met the guys who started it) was:

Luis Garcia

he drinks sangria

he came from barca

to bring us joy

he's 5 ft 7,

he's football heaven

so please don't take my Luis away

I like the 4'7 bit tho! :)

I remember hearing it in the Albert a couple of months before Istanbul. took a while to be accepted cos of the tunes blues**** connections.

When skies are grey is/was an Everton Fanzine and they have sung the original for years.

Loads of fans sing songs to the tune now aswell. Celtic did with Larsson, Mancs do with Solskjaer etc.

I suppose it could be changed to ...

'...He came from Barca

to make us better....'

First time I heard it was the night before the european cup final, in an Irish bar off Taksim. It was definitely "4ft7" and "bring us joy", however I have heard "to Liverpool" as well.

You are my Solskjaer,

My Ole Solskjaer,

You make me happy,

When skies are grey,

And Alan Shearer, Was f*cking dearer,

So Please don't take, My Solskjaer, Away.....

That rhymes better than our one.

"He came from Barca,

To make our day,

he's 5 ft 7,

he's football heaven

so please don't take my Garcia away

"

That's what I usually sing, from back in the days off RAWK

It was being sung Jamesons Bar in Koln (the one where Rafa showed his face) the night of the Leverkusen away with 4'7" and "to bring us joy".

Among the other classics aired that night were "You can stick your f*cking tickets up your a***" to the air of she'll be coming round the mountain. :D

I was in Jameson also, the song I remember from that night is (as the mancs were losing to Milan):

The famous Rafa Benitez came to the Pub to see the lads ( x3 )

and this is what he said

who the F**k are Man Utd

etc etc

'He's football heaven' is the gayest line ever in a football song.

So, let's go the whole hog, with a full-on, quegged up tribute :

'Luis Garcia,

He isn't queeer,

he looks a bit girleee,

but he's a boy,

he's 5 foot seven,

Ooh he's football heaven,

but please don't call our Luis a gay....'

* I apologise for an homophobia implied in the above, but some songs just write themselves.
