Theo Walcott

Sorry if I'm posting anything already known to you lot, but I met a mate of his yesterday. I go to Aston Uni, and met him in the pub during the liverpool match, as he's a mate of the mate I was with (yeah I know how that sounds ;)).

Anyway, he told me that Theo had recieved a lot of interest from Chelsea, but that at this stage, he didn't think he would go there.

He also said that we had bid £5m for him not long ago, and that he was a liverpool fan which should help things, as regards to him coming here.

That's all I got to find out. I'll ask him any suggested questions - and ask for any updates ;)- the next time I see him.

Guest Jack Bauer

Sounds about right to be fair to you, heard about his family being Liverpool fans before and Rafa wanting an extra million or two from the board.

He reminds me more of Henry than Owen. He has incredible acceleration and fantastic balance. There's a strange elegance about the way he runs with the ball, the same that Henry has.

I don't know if he's better out wide or up front though, I don't think he's a natural goalscorer.

he had a one-on-one yesterday where his inexperience showed through. i never saw henry at that age, so i can only go off what i saw of owen, and walcott has the same energy and pace in possession that owen had. hard to believe he gets paid £90 a week and still cleans his team-mates' boots down there.

IMHO Walcott looks up there with Giggs, Owen, Cole & Rooney at the same age. All of them were head and shoulders above the rest at 16 and you could see that they were all gonna make it.

As I keeo an eye on Reading I see quite a bit of Championship stuff and Walcott is really special.

I said in another thread about him that he reminds me of Owen. Doesn't have the same instinct in one on ones as Owen but he's got oodles of flair

Where he tried to put it to the keepers left ? Should have done better but at least he made the keeper work.

I hope we sign him because he does remind me of Owen in style at 16 or 17. He doesn't seem to have the same quality of finish but he's going to get better, his value will increase and a bid now could bring him to the club. Chelsea will obviously try and buy him but hopefully he'll realise it's just because they can and don't want anyone else to have him - he'll have more chance of fulfilling his potential here.

The ' fact ' he seems to have Liverpool ties in his family would only help us get him.

It's funny you should mention the way he runs, as this mate of his mentioned that although he's very fast, he runs in an awkward way.

Incidently, I saw the guy today briefly in the guild shop, and said I'd seen Theo's goal, and that the drinks would be on me if he got him to sign for us. :)

Was in the pub the other day, and this mate of his came over to tell me that he'd spoken to Theo's brother and that he wasn't going to go to Chelsea.

Whether Chelsea's millions change his mind though, is another matter (that's me thinking that, not him saying anything).

Sky Sports showed the back page of one of the rags which had a story of him going to spurs for £9mill last night.
