Say Hodgson had stuck around long enough to doom us, and we got relegated at the end of the season; then Kenny took over in the summer.

Which players do you think would have stuck around, and who would we have bought?

I think these would have stayed: Jones; Flanagan, Kelly, Carragher, Konchesky, Wilson; Spearing, Shelvey; Kuyt.

I reckon we'd have tried to buy Danny Murphy; maybe talked to Kevin Nolan too but I don't think he'd have gone for it. Then we'd be looking at the likes of Lewis McGugan.

Get Bellamy back.

Poulsen and Konchesky, because nobody apart from the Owl faced lesbian c*** is stupid enough to sign them .

The funniest thing is - Hodgson probably wouldn't have stayed. He'd have blamed everyone else, jumped ship and went to some s***ty, struggling premier league club.

I'm an optimistic sort of person and I convinced myself of the good things about relegation when that spectre emerged earlier this season.

Less messing about with kick-off times and days.

More grounds to visit.

Fewer BIRGs (people who Bask In Reflected Glory) to glom on to us.

A real test of true support. That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger, and all that.

We would almost certainly have been looking forward to an unbeaten season of rolling aside all the inferior opposition sent to play us.

See, every cloud has a silver lining!
