Why are they denying it though? It's spot on. Who is it gonna upset? s*n readers? f*** them, they're clearly a lost cause anyway

The families and friends of those who lost their lives might object to it being used for political purposes.

I'm not sure whether I will change my newspaper buying policy off the back of this.

nor mine, but it's the whiff of political opportunism that's depressing me...

Agree

Though the statement is right and as everybody knows that no genuine liverpool fan can be a tory, it still doesn't sit right.

i seem to have missed the 'wrong about labour part'. yeah agree that's in questionable taste.

As distasteful as it might be, I think it helps embed the truth that the s*n lied over Hillsborough.

That is how I see it, but then they've only used it for political gains.

Bah I'm torn

It says in that article that the S*n apologized in 2004 for its Hillsborough coverage. must have blinked and missed that.

Murph - Margaret Thatcher, Bernard Ingham, Kelvin MacKenzie, Boris Johnson, Norman Tebbit - all hate football fans, all hate Liverpool, all are Tories. am Rhein hat rechts!

That's right FYDS, name a handful of undesirables who don't like football to prove your point that to support your team you have to agree with the majority politically.Bolllocks.

And for the record, Boris Johnson LOVES football, You'd never see Gordon Brown taking a hun centre forward out at the waist, that'll be the England supporting Jock Gordon Brown who claimed he was happy England won the World Cup BTW.

That's just baby-kissing, popularism.

What depresses me even more is that that f*ckin "newspaper" has a daily readership of over 3 million!

I love how some people on here believe Liverpool fans have to be particular people.

I don't give a f*** about politics but for some to claim you can only be a 'proper' if you back labour is a complete b******s of a statement. A complete generalisation that everyone who supports a club has to fall within the category they feel is correct.

Some would say to be a proper fan you have to have black curly hair, a moustache and wear a shellsuit. That's as much b******s as the Tory stuff.

You can be what the f*** you want and support this great club, just because others differ from you doesn't mean you are right.

Exactly. John L should support Swansea anyway, full of left wing Welsh miners, he has no 'right' to support Liverpool.

Three million thick barstards who take their views from The s*n. We're doomed.

Agree that backing Labour isn't relevant, but if you give a f*** about the city of Liverpool, which you should do if you support the club, then you should acknowledge the distant, soulless, empathy-less damage done to the city (along with other working class areas) by the Thatcher Government and from there you should, at the very least, remain genuinely sceptical about the Tory Party.

What I don't understand is why supposedly intelligent people have got this so ar$e about face, the fact that the s*n is supporting the tories in the election does not mean that they are more likely to win, it is the fact that the tories are likely to win the next election that have led the s*n to side with them. Isn't that obvious? It's like saying Ladbrokes are supporting a certain team when they make them favourites.
