Anfield to Lime Street by cab

How long is it likely to take to get to Lime Street via cab after a match, given all the traffic and chaos surrounding the ground? Would it be realistic to catch a 5:48pm train on a Saturday after a 3pm kickoff, or would that be asking too much?

I know Lime Street is only a couple of miles from Anfield, but if you get out the ground by 5pm, by the time you've got a cab and got through the traffic, 5:48pm might not be a realistic prospect.

Also, would it be best to pre-arrange with the cabbie to meet me somewhere by the ground after the game, or is there somewhere i could just get a cab from afterwards, without pre-booking it?

Cheers in advance.

You're just a walking helping hand, arent you? :notrelatedtoanyforummember4:

You'd walk that easy.

I might do if i had the faintest idea where i was going. I know the way to Anfield, from the M62...and that's about it :D

It's easy enough and there'll be plenty doing the same. Turn right onto Walton Breck Rd, bear left at the bottom onto Everton Valley, then Kirkdale Rd, then you can either turn left and go down Gt Homer St or go straight on down Scotland Rd, both will take you through to Lime St. Half hour tops.

just follow the crowd heading down the breck road towards town. easy.

jump on a bus heading that way - easier.

pre-arrange a cab to pick you up.

Have a quick look on Google maps, you'll be surprised how easy the route is. Far quicker than a taxi.

Best book a cab before hand, arrange to pick you up by The Stanley pub which is a 5 minute walk from the ground, there are several roads to get into town from The Stanley and I'm sure the cabbie will know all of them.

Cheers lads for the help, especially Lost Boy, who gets the 'best helper' award and a gold star.

Why thank you, must be working in this Mumbai Call Centre rubbing off.

Don't see the point of wasting money sitting in match traffic just to get to town, but there you go.

The 'point' would be to get my train, which would then get me home without the traffic of the M62, M6 and M40 - which i normally have to deal with.

just get the bus, loads of them will go into town, there's a load of bus stops where walton lane and rd meet.

You've got practically 50 minutes to travel about 2.5 miles, you could even walk it. Traffic's not that bad going into the city. I've got home, had my tea and out again by 6

Stay over and get on the lash, no traffic in the morning

:D It's more the petrol costs i'm looking to avoid mate. £65 petrol by car, £26 return train ticket.

As an OOT do you expect anyone to give you the right directions back to town :hmm:

Well i expect the cabbie to help me out, yeah.

when your paying the cab fare with an OOT accent LMAO

Oh no, will the £4 fare rise to £8? Bugger, how will i finance that? My total travel expenses might end up being just over £30. Instead of the £70 i usually fork out for petrol and M6 toll.

Might have to mortgage my home.

Go to Priory Road and get the 68. It's bound to go somewhere near where you're going.

I used to know all the best bus routes for this short hop but that was ages ago and all the buses have changed since. It's an easy enough walk though, even if you're not sure of the way the general direction of 'straight down Breck Road and on' will get you most of the way, then ask for directions - plenty of time to do that one.
