Haven't seen this posted yet, but from the official:

 

Liverpool FC today confirmed reserves manager Gary Ablett will leave the club at the end of this month.

Ablett will depart after the International Cor Groenewegen Tournament in Holland this weekend.

 

The former Reds defender took up the position in 2006 after moving from Merseyside rivals Everton.

 

Everyone at Liverpool would like to thank Gary for his hard work over the past three years and wish him all the best for the future.

 

 

Anybody know why he's leaving? I know the ressies haven't done great this season but he won the league last year!

i imagine 16 times redundancy pay/unfair dismissal doesn't fall under financial cutbacks. They can't have been on that much it'd be worth the hassle.

16 people are unlikely to cost more than high six figures each year, less than a minor squad member I'd guess, and they are likely to be replaced. Seems to me like a lot of restructuring

well, nothing has come out of there in the last 10 years, so needed a change.

 

And I don't mean first team players for us, I mean ANY decent footballers.

 

The sign of a good youth academy is the number of boys who come out of there still playing professional football at a good level. How many of ours are playing in the top 2 leagues of the country as opposed to the mancs, arsenals, hammers etc?
