Ever since he's been switched out to the wing, he's become twice the player he was up front. Whether it's a case of the pressure being off him or just the fact that his hard work and tracking back is rewarded more a midfielder, I don't know, but he now looks like a very important member of the squad. His first touch still needs work but he seems to increasingly be getting into great positions and his hard work is now being rewarded with goals.

If he's out wide next season we won't win the title and never will whilst a player of his ability plays in that position.

He'll have good games and he'll try hard but the lad doesn't have enough pace, class or guile to play that position consistently well enough for a side with title aspirations.

If he doesn't mind being back-up to Torres then fine but he aint good enough.

Quality finish on Tuesday but it's the exception rather than the rule.

The simple answer for me is yes. His performances in the 2nd half of the season havebeen fantastic but this may well be because of him playing on the right. Our expectations of him may have lowered and we're not relying on him scoring from out there as often as we were when he was playing up front.

In saying that, I would still replace him on the first eleven. I have gone from wanting rid to seeing him as a valuable squad player.

Squad player yes. But as said above, if we want to mount a serious challenge for the title then we need a RW who is exactly that. If Rafa buys a RW then he isn't going to play Kuyt there on a regular basis. The lad has done well though and gives his all for the cause which has turned me around a bit. But we did pay quite a bit of money for him and he has started to pay a bit of that back.

We bought him as a centre forward and have since replaced him with a better one.

Doing a job on the right but he's not the solution.

he is scoring goals and creating assists from the right, even his first touch was excellent on tuesday

But we should aim for much better. We get the ball down the right a lot and can get much more penetration down that side with a better player.

I love dirk, I really do and hope he stays as part of the squad next season but if we have Babel and Kuyt starting on the wing every game we'll have gone wrong badly somewhere over the summer

I agree about getting someone better, however he has been excellent in his position, and his cis confidence seems to be coming back to him

you will be disappointed if you think that Rafa will replace both him and Babel in the summer

With your first point I totally agree and i'm very happy that he's getting some credit and his hard work is paying off. I'm happy for him but know that we need better.

Re Babel and Kuyt. Didn't make myself clear, I dont want Babel replaced but if we start the season again with Kuyt on the right and Babel on the left we'll have missed a trick over the summer. Personally would like to see someone come in for the left side and Babel moved to the other wing. If Rafa really wants to play Babel on the left I think we'll need a quality right sided winger and a new agressive left back.

He was really good in his first season, poor enough up until about January this season and then great since. I'm inclined to think he's a quality player who went through a slump in form. People laughed at me when I suggested it was because his dad died, but he said himself that it really affected his form.

Benayoun did it for a few games in the autumn - is he good enough ?

yossi scored two hatricks against the two poorest teams we have played this season, its good to have someone like him in the squad but most of the games that he has played in, especially against stronger oppositions he played poorly, Kuyt has given MOTM performances against arsenal, inter and chelsea

Yossi;s problem seems to be that there isn't really a position for him in the current formation.

He never lost me. I've always liked Kuyt but I didn't like him playing in the withdrawn striker role. I don't know if it was the role itself or if it was the death of his father and a loss of confidence that was responsible for his poor displays but I think he's been f***ing superb lately, especially in the European Cup.

None of this means that I don't want to see a new right winger (or lweft with ryan switching) for games where a bit of pace and skill is needed against the bus parkers of this world

He's ok, decent even - but certainly not anywhere near the class of Voronin or Riise.

Since you seem to know me, can you list the 7 players I rate the most in our squad, in no particular order?

Alonso

Torres

Gerrard

Reina

Hyypia

Babel

Voronin?

Why?

I know you rate Voronin more than Kuyt - which is simply egregious.

yes - and i think there is more to come from him

he may not be a ronaldo, but he forces the opposition into many mistakes which creats very dangerous positions for us. an example was tuesday. not only did he score, but he won the ball back to create the attack
