FA have banned him for 2 more games and fined him 15K. So what less than 2 weeks to sort him out while Ferguson still had until 17th April to even answer any charges.

damn you Jim D!

Presumably the ban starts immediately and he misses Saturday's game?

he wouldn't have played on Saturday anyway, and he would have been a doubt against Everton after playing for Argentina in midweek so 2 of the games hes missed he would have missed anyway :)

So in effect it has now only come out as a one match ban, he'll miss Blackburn at home.

According to SSN we may appeal.

What happened to that precedent that was set with that lower league player only getting a 1 match ban for the same offence?

Indeed and the numerous incidents in the past of players refusing to leave the pitch but only getting a 1 match ban. Vieria etc

They can do whatever the f*** they want, they're making it up as they go along. They know that nobody will go to the effort to pursue it legally and also that the time frame wouldn't allow it.

Not sure I see the point TBH. An appeal will just delay the start of the ban. It depends on how Rafa is going to approach Saturday. If we rest players, then it's probably best he misses that one rather than a latter one we are expected to win.

Trying to look at it objectively the antics after the sending-off probably warrants a two match ban (apart from the automatic one game red card ban). However considering the awkward nature of the red card plus the fact that he wasn't violent or used foul language towards anyone before or after the red card one game should be enough.

Sadly I don't think an appeal will stand.

Looks like we may appeal due to inconsistency and rightly so, the FA seem to make up the rules as they go along.

Responding to the announcement from the FA, a Liverpool spokesman said: "Although we received a fair hearing we must now decide whether to appeal on the basis of inconsistency of sentencing for Javier based on past precedents."

good

2 game ban is very harsh in light of a guilty plea, no previous offences and precedents of only a 1 game ban for similar offences

Someone, right at this very moment, at the FA, is googling past sending off offences to see what they did then, so they can get their story straight at the appeal hearing.

The incompetent pr*cks.

To right, what a f***ing joke.

I notice Yakubu giving Howard Webb a mouthful every 2 seconds on Sunday yet nothing.

Aye, said the same in the match thread. The magic rule was only in effect for Masc it seems.

How many times do I have to tell you? The 'current climate' Sky Television 2008, was only in effect for the weekend when we played the Mancs. It was over by the following weekend.

There you go.

It's their Anti Liverpool agenda.

Joke of a decision from a joke of an organisation. We should stop doing business with them and entertaining their blatant hypocrisy.

Ant , explain this one then.

The fine is absolutely ludicrous and no way in line with previous fines for 'foul and abusive language' Hell... for a first offence that stinks! The most Slur has been fined for his repeated attacks on officials is only £5k

I've tried, but words can't express how angry I am with this.

It's been established (by me) that the actual offence that he was sent off for was bollix (the actual 2nd booking, not his kicking off over other decisions earlier in the game), so essentially if a ref sends you off for literally nothing and you complain about it then you risk a further ban, even though it was essentially the ref who was negligent in the first place.
