From the Echo

DIC’s growing confidence that a deal can and will be done saw them dispatch a representative to Anfield for last night’s Premier League game against West Ham.

The representative met with members of various fans group in a bid to gauge their opinion about the club and the best way forward for it.

He also witnessed first hand the latest protest by fans against the current owners with a demonstration which lasted the full 15 minutes of the half-time interval.

The Spirit of Shankly has already indicated it is ready to offer DIC a cautious welcome and would be prepared to enter into a dialogue with them.

It's kinda in the story Sean.....

Yes and as much as I applaud their endeavour in trying to remedy the problems why should we have to be represented by anyone, let alone these lads. Maybe it's the wording that gets me insofar they're 'ready to offer a cautious welcome...'

Jeez.

DIC must be over joyed. :hmm:

Yup, the wording is slighlty off. However, it is encouraging that fan groups are being engaged with, and more encouraging that the welcome is not unconditional - any future owners of LFC should have to prove their worth, earn our respect and deliver on their promises.

Hicks and Gillett also did that, and were praised for it.

Well whoop-de-doo. Thank God for the SoS.

hold on, that quote follows a briefing from DIC, not SOS; we can't influence the language used

and I can assure you that our man didn't say "I can confirm that we are ready to offer you a cautious welcome and are prepared to enter in to a dialogue with you"

it was friendly and productive, not officious or confrontational at all

Why in gods name should DIC wish to speak to SoS - they just a small noisy group of fans who are a little delusional about there own importance.

DIC would be better sitting in ground away from Directors box or just visit local pubs on match day - More likely to get real fans reaction than our new super fans comments

That's about as stinging as a put down can get.

But seemingly having enough of an affect on your life for you to be constantly throw stones?

If you think it's such an insignificant easily ignored pointless talking shop, why bother with the continuous attacks?

I know you have your opinion that all protests against the owners and debate around the ownership are a groundless distraction from the real business of calling for the manager's head, so is it fair to say you'd prefer fan anger to be pointed in that direction?

next time we meet them I will be sure to ask them

"hello DIC people, first item on the agenda: Uncle Bob wants to know why you want to speak to us?"

self appointed fan representatives.

That's the problem I've always had... something I made clear with the RTK's conception (to which the defence was 'well at least we're doing something'). That's not to say they are wrong or that there is any other way of doing it, it's just a dodgy way of doing things.

Dont agree with them meeting with self appointed fan representatives.

Do you disagree with fans groups full stop, or just any owner or prospective owner meeting with them?

As far as I can tell this particular group is open and welcoming to anyone, for anyone to attend meetings and voice an opinion and have a vote on the voice. They also seem to have done a very good job getting that voice heard in the national media. It seems to me a good way for fans to speak with something like a unified voice, am i wrong?

I'd rather they meet with intelligent, articulate and well motivated twots like Molby than someone who can just about force out 'Sack that useless Spanish Bast*rd an' sell dat Ginger f*cka - d'you want some pork scratchin's?!'

Nothing to do with that at all. Just they arent representative of all Liverpool fans, only the SOS.

I didn't personally meet them last night though....not that it matters, just a point of order

details to follow soon; the meeting isn't a secret, just a few protocols to follow about how to describe what was said

So you are concerned that the assumption is made that they are representative and what is said 'in the name of the fans'? That's fair enough, but without meeting such groups, and plural is always used in such cases, how best would interested parties gauge fan opinion? Randomly visiting pubs, forums, listening to phone ins, writing to ST holders, doing an Ashley? I'm not sure there is a perfect solution, and meeting representative of fans groups is a fair way to go ahead.
