torres superb today.....really proves you pay top money your gonna get true world class(well most of the time)

 

the rest of the side..pretty poor today, masch hurried about and did ok....but overalll we were saved by 3 moments of pure genius..

 

also felt a bit for lucas today who had his weakest game and really should have been put out of his misery and been taken off..

Why should he have been taken off? People keep saying we should give Lucas, Babel etc minutes in the team like Ferguson did for Ronaldo when he first signed.

Yep ive seen it happen to Man Utd a few times this season where the team performance has been pretty average but Ronaldo, or Rooney or Tevez have produced those moments of magic.

 

Rafa said the same this week in the PL its not about tactics its all about individuals performing, Torres is world class and hes shown what that gives you this season, its really refreshing to have another player capable of making goals for himself and producing moments of magic to get results when maybe we dont play well.

What is concerning for me recently is how CHEAPLY we are giving the ball away to the opposition, poor first touches, poor decision making is putting undue pressure on our back line. We should not be seeing professional footballers giving the ball away time and time again whilst under little or no pressure. It was the same against Barnsley 20+ misplaced passes during the game and today we have done exactly the same.

 

Good job Torres was on his game otherwise this could have been another two points dropped or at worst a defeat. What on earth are they doing in training, do they even practice playing one touch football?

Even without Alonso we should not be surrendering possession as easily as we have been in recent games. Yes we won today but I'm thinking about the next three league games which on paper we should win comfortably. If we continue to play like this then it is likely we will drop another three points when we shouldn't.

for the next game, id like to see the same formation...but with carra in for arbeloa and alonso in for lucas..

thought arbeloa did well to be honest. i wouldnt mind him taking the right back slot from finnan.

Thought he was out of position a lot causing the confusion at the back. Certainly not a great CB but decent enough for full back until we (hopefully) up grade in the summer.

Yeah he isnt great, but he's more like a back-up CB than anything else. If our 5th choice CB is indeed great, I dont think we would have this squad depth issue as we have now. Reason why I said he played ok was that he played the ball out of the danger areas and inside half pretty well. He could have resorted to pumping long balls but he didnt. He made a pretty vital interception too when Alladiere turned Hyypia inside out and was about to shoot.

Fair call on the distribution thing and tackle on Aliadierre but overall I though that a lot of the indecision at the back was caused by him. Probably cos he has hardly played there for us. However, he is far better suited to play full back and seems more comfortable there. Like you say tho is 5th choice CB and we got through it with a win.
