Gunga Din Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 its past the stage of a dip in form now, its a f***ing crisis, it really is. we should easily have won today, we had enough chances to win the cup never mind the match, but poor finishing and good defending put a stop to that. i dont think the players are playing for the manager anymore, and thats a major worry. a few strange substitutions today, Babel going off was a strange one, probably our best player, certainly our most dangerous. we are in mid february and we are left in one competition. player selection, player buys, tactics and motivating the players are all things that cant be laid at the door of the yanks. they are all the responsability of the manager, and right now, imo, he is failing miserably in all areas. the Inter game is crucial now, we go out to Inter, then i think Rafa's position becomes untenable
Guz Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Though I agree with the gist of your post in hindsight I thought we played better when Babel went off. Not saying it was DUE to Babel going off but we certainly had more than enough chances to win it in the last 20 minutes.
Jim D Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Struggling to beat Luton, Havant and not beating Barnsley says a lot about Rafa's position as manager at the club. We've not played well in a run of games for ages and this season is over if we go out to Inter Milan.
smicer07 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Aye, but have you won the European Cup? You're about as funny as Bobby Davro. Ask yer dad.
Benzo-13 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I do think the dressing room is lost to Rafa and I reckon it's been gone since Reading (A). Even though Marseille (Best performance of season) followed that I think that silly defeat and the amount of messing that went on during that 90mins destroyed a fair bit of morale.
Gunga Din Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 Any protesting? nah, people probably a bit fed up. i left straight after the whistle, got a cab and came straight home
Stanley Leisure Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 You're about as funny as Bobby Davro. Ask yer dad. Davro's much funnier than Ant.

If the first defeat of the season ruined player's morale then they are bigger g*******s and s***houses then I first gave them credit for. I agree I think Rafa has lost a lot of support from the players though.
Guest Ant Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Davro's much funnier than Ant. Seriously I'm not kidding. Yiz shud not be judging managers that 'ave won teh European Cup *Sticks 2005 DVD in tray*
suzyv Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I stayed for the protest and i have always said we shoul get behind the team and not protest during th e match. I have today changed my mind we got behind the team it did noot make any diffderance. After the game when we were protesting a stewart who I do know and who as always seems to be a decant guy came out with a clip board with whaat t looked like names and seat numbers on I dont know if this was to scare off the protesters as iff to say we know who you are. He went with about 2 or 3 other stewards and a couple of police men and removed a banner the fans were holding up and then removed a fan. i think that if this is going to be the attitude of the club then we only have the choice to protest during the match. i think this season is a lost cause chips now anyway.
suzyv Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) I have to say I hope i am wrong about the clipboard but I dont think I am and If they are starting these tactics then you can only blame Parry. Edited February 16, 2008 by suzyv

Cam Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Oh no, Ant's found a Sarcastic Stick and he's gonna beat us all with it all night. And as for taking seat numbers... move to another seat. Easy. I always thought the protest should be during the games anyway. If Parry or some steward wants to strong-arm the fans then we'll do it whilst the cameras are on us.
Guest Kaizer Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Though I agree with the gist of your post in hindsight I thought we played better when Babel went off. Not saying it was DUE to Babel going off but we certainly had more than enough chances to win it in the last 20 minutes. Off course we did, we substituted a player that constantly lost the ball, aimlessly running straight into defenders, not passing unless he was forced to and not when he was able to etc. I have seen a few people saying he had a good game and thats just bizarre.

Cam Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Bet you are, duckie. Rafa now has to gamble on Torres for Tuesday to save our season and his job. It's got to be the strongest possible team and he has to get controlled passion from it right from the very start. Being too clever with tactics and formations will bring him down.
Logic Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Off course we did, we substituted a player that constantly lost the ball, aimlessly running straight into defenders, not passing unless he was forced to and not when he was able to etc with a player that only lost the ball, only ran straight into defenders etc etc etcFixed™ (oh, I know he had a shot at goal....)

That would describe every other Babel performance since he joined us but not todays. He was getting at the full-back hitting the bye-line and looked our most dangerous player. Babelgoing off infuriated the crowd , confused our players and lifted theirs. Kewell being his replacement made me angry. Very angry.

Agree he was the only player out there first half who was trying to MAKE something happen, a constant menace to their right back, willingness to take on players and to create something. When he was dragged off I was shocked.
Earl Hafler Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Off course we did, we substituted a player that constantly lost the ball, aimlessly running straight into defenders, not passing unless he was forced to and not when he was able to etc. I have seen a few people saying he had a good game and thats just bizarre. He created the goal and several other chances. The t*** with the stats.
