Yup, once again Rafa teaches and attacker how to defend ;)

Instead of teach an attacker to learn greater attacking skill?

Thats how Rafa screwed all the striker he bought for the club.

attackers like garcia, torres and crouch?

What do people think about when Rafa tells the lads who is playing?

Do people think players could do with more time?

I think it's positive. Keeps everyone on their toes and prepared.

Yupe. You were right. Both Garcia and Crouch is world beater now. I'm just so wrong.

Since the days of Hunt, Keegan, Rush and Dalglish, we've always defended from the front.

Garcia and crouch had the best time in their careers under rafa, if anything, crouch is actually more lazy now than when he first joined the club

I think there might some point to it, actually.

I can't remember who it was, Torres maybe, who said in an interview some months ago that the tactical training was mostly focused on proper positioning when they don't have the ball and that rafa generally gave the attacking players license to work out the attacking game themselves to a certain extent. Can't remember the exact wording and maybe it wasn't said as a 'just go out there and do your stuff' thing, but something to that effect.

It was Babel. Said after a couple of weeks that Rafa hadn't talked to him about how to attack. But then you read the last Torres interview a translation somewhere on here and he talks about the fine detail he gets from Benitez about his attacking game, and that and older ones where Benitez instructs him to concentrate on being in and around the box and not in deep areas in the build up, except when playing wirth Crouch, and how this has improved his goal return. Clearly speaks a lot to Torres about attacking.

Here's what I think:

Teaching people to close down the opposition and to "hunt in packs" is good, aggressive defense is fine by me I just dont like the sit back and defend thing we often do.

However you cant just say to the attackers " do your thing" that's an abdication of responsibility, we either need an attack coach or Rafa has to start coaching 1) Set Pieces 2) Movement and positioning when attacking

It's a shame Russie or Dalglish don't coach our attackers, as they may know a thing or two about attacking

We could always sign Keegan a coach in a few months.
