I'd like to see Alonso, Pennant, Finnan and Agger (if fit obviously) get another 90 minutes behind them, since they have seemed a bit rusty since coming back.

 

Up front you could make a case for someone like Nemeth I suppose, but I'm sure Rafa won't give him any meaningful games in the spring so it's better to get the first team strikers some much needed confidence.

 

BTW, did Elisha say that Gerrard is out of Luton and Boro somewhere, or was that a dream of mine?

Don't think he'll Carling Cup it, though. Hobbs will only start if Agger is not back, I'd say, though he should definitely be in the squad. Aurélio and Arbeloa to start, and Old Man Finnan hopefully will be on the bench (as that might hint at ginger developments).

 

Haven't seen any reserve matches for a couple of weeks and haven't heard of any massive improvement in him, but I suppose it would do no harm having Leto on the bench. Don't know if Kewell needs a rest or more games under his belt, when it comes to starting Babel. Maybe a first half against a (presumably) lower-quality right back would do him good.

 

Pennant needs to start, as does Lucas.

 

Don't have a clue about the striker situation, in all honesty. I'd like to have Torres on the bench or even sitting in the stands and leave it to poor old Crouchie.
