a very good keeper, but it does annoy me that every time he conceeds a goal because of a howler or bad keeping (and it has been happening often since his return from the head injury) the commentators feel obligated to come up with rubbish comments like "Cech only make mistakes like that once every 10 years"!

Is he ever going to stop wearing that head gear by the way?

Not been the same keeper since having to wear that.

I think it tipped him, but for me before that he was showing signs, like Chelsea in general, of slipping from that imperial form of their first title season and much of their second.

He is no where as good as the press make out.

The number of saves reqd per game is very low, but oddly his save per shot % is not that high. That is the measure that should be used, plus clean sheets and he is not top in either. In fact he is not even in the top 5 on the actim index.

He has a fantastic team to protect him. They very rearly let in goals from set pieces, and hardly ever get pens given against them.

The FA should have said no boxing hat this year, but they have and never will stand up to Chelsea.

Ballack should be cited for his elbow, it wont happen.

Look And Save with Petr Cech

he's made errors for the past 18 months but he's still called the best in the world out of habit.

Its one of those "media facts" along with Newcastle having the best fans and Rafa's rotation policy.

I was listening to talk sports a couple of weeks back, I think it was after the reading defeat and the usual idiots were calling in for Rafa's head, and this leeds fan called in to say that Liverpool fans should learn from Newcastle fans how to get behind the manager

To be fair, his form and confidence really seemed to dip after the head injury.

It's not surprising considering how serious it was. I think his skull was indented by inches and was only a small distance from fragmenting into his brain.

That's a potentially life threatening injury, so it would be no surprise if he never quite regained the imperious form he had, simply because he's very, very wary of suffering another such injury.

Could be true.

He's definitely not the keeper he was. I thought he was pretty close to being the best in the world, if not the best actually. Though you couldn't say that now.

Still those clangers don't make him a bad keeper either, they ALL go through periods like this. He's young (especially in 'keeper terms) and will be back on top again I hope.

I also don't want Pepe labeled with the best in the world tag, even if it's true.. It brings nothing only bad fortune I reckon!! Let's just appreciate our good fortune without mounting a campaign!
