holt - mourinho

keown - scolari

wilson - coppell

i love that they're asking the so-called football man for his expert views when he would take the english game back 15 years. the most common sense is coming from oliver holt and keown.

Yeah, Allardye is pretty crap, but is he really bad enough for the England job?

i like keown. talks a lot of sense and doesn't need to punctuate his sentences with 'obviously', 'y'know' and 'at the end of the day'.

Aye, contrary to all appearances the biped troglodyte is actually quite articulate.

Wilkinson ruined a generation of footballers with his nonsense. He's the reason the academy system is a joke, he was largely responsible for policy. How did someone look at the teams he produced and decide that Wilkinson was the man to produce a generation of technically gifted footballers?

That wasn't the idea, was it? Wasn't the idea to produce a generation of footballers who know how to hit diagonal 70 yard balls that force the opposite full back into an aerial challenge and result in a throw-in won 57% of the time?

I think I read in Kenny's autobiography that David Batty was a hugely talented player. An English Xabi Alonso, but Howard Wilkinson managed to drum all his passing ability out of him and turned him into the crab-like defensive midfielder.

that may be true but as Wilkinson gave him his debut at 18 I wonder how much of this Xabi-like footballing genius Kenny would have seen in action prior to that on which to base that view.

This will be BEFORE Dalglish bought him for Blackburn?
