I don't think its a windup but nobody raves about Voronin. He's an honest player with moments of quality. Not sure he's quite what were looking for though.

I'd have started with Babel or benayoun instead of Voronin. Nothing I saw from the Ukrainian has convinced me otherwise.

Difficult when you're out on the left wing and you're more suited to a position in the middle

I agree with this. Good, honest player who can produce the odd moment of quality but has been distinctly average for a good number of games now. I do think we need someone a bit more incisive to play as second striker - we certainly need a player capable of beating his man consistently and Voronin doesn't really do that consistently.

I'm not sure being played on the wing helped him today though. Babel and Yossi on the bench, with two strikers on the wings, was a very odd decision.

Kuyt was far far worse today and on several occasions prevented Voronin getting a shot on goal. Said it before but the two of them on the pitch at the same time is a bad idea.

Voronin has consistently set up chances over the last few games and has good game intelligence and a high workrate. He's certainly not one of our poorer players

Kuyt did him no favors neither

Both of them.

You dont win a title carrying those two in a team (and they'll probably end up playing 50 games plus each).

Kuyt gets in everyone`s way, got no first touch, no passing just f**kin useless.

riise, hypia (although only due to age), vornin and kuyt should all be at lesser teams.

He seems to make the wrong decision every time.

Yes when he set up Crouch with a wonderful pass he clearly should have done something else. :)

Both of them are beginning to remind me of Heskey after his first season - work hard but in deep or wide areas. Crouch can play on the shoulder of the last defender, lead the line. The other two are not wide players. Babel and Benayoun on the bench ?

I think Rafa's going through a rough spell. The team look void of ideas, passing is poor, there's a lack of understanding / cohesion. He was faffing around with the Crouch / Torres sub 1 minute before the break and he's been playing Pennant during an injury.

I'd like to know what it is that makes this club go through spells like this seemingly every season

Riise intelligent ? Don't make me laugh. Gerrard has reverted to playing too many quick 40 yard passes that don't help anyone and Sami is whacking the ball upfield like he's playing in the conference.

Very lucky to escape with a draw.

Arsenal was.

If Alonso hadn't gotten injured we'd have won it.

We would have probably won, but doesnt mean it would have been deserved.

A round of those, please, barman !

It would have been a lot tighter, put it that way, and we woudd have had someone with a bit of a clue on the ball. Anyone who thinks we don't miss Alonso is clueless.

Your post implies i think we don't miss Xabi which is wrong

Voronin and Kuyt were both crap today which is not surprising as neither of them is in any way a winger.

Rafa had two genuine wingers on the bench in Benayoun and Babel, so why he selected two non-wingers to play on the wings is another Rafa puzzle. Maybe he thought that Voronin and Kuyt had more strength to cope with Arsenal's rough defenders - Benayoun did look too lightweight when he did come on.
