Something positive after all....

The last half an hour it seemed like Babel rediscovered something he did in Holland, but not so far in a red shirt: That he has the pace and skill to beat to take players on and get a good cross in. The run he had late in the game when Voronin (?) missed in fornt of goal was class. More of that please.

Yeah, the charge down the line beating the two men was great, something we haven't seen in a while. Pennant couldn't get going tonight though, just failed to get past the man and knock it in. Babel is better on the right though in my opinion.

I thought Rafa may have tried Babel up front for a bit as we needed a bit of pace down the middle.

Definately... I wish Rafa will play him there sooner or later.

I think if Babel had come into a team that was brimful of confidence and playing good attacking football consistently, then we would see him really flourish. Same can be said of Yossi. Unfortunately, our football recently has been too pedestrian and playing with hope rather than confidence.

That old question of what would have C.Ronaldo turned out like if we had signed him and what would "Le Gems" turned out like if Man Utd or Arsenal signed them? Would there have been any difference in how they ended up?

Voronin tried to get out of the way for benayoun to finish, but he f***ed it up using too many touches instead of finishing it off with his first touch.

Voronin should never have touched the ball. Probably didn't get a shout though.

Pennant played well last season from January. But that's just it... well. 7/10 at best. Even in his best games he was still far from the standard we need. Maybe he'd be adequate as squad cover for a decent right winger.

A lot of the buzz on here was from hope. Like "he's okay now, a few more games and his confidence will be up, he'll get better and better, this time next year he'll be amazing". It's as if 'someone plays well = he'll turn into Kaka or Ronaldinho' rather than accepting maybe that's his limit. It's not like he's a kid - his potential has been reached.

Voronin was poor. Very poor. As was Finnan, Carragher and Gerrard first half.

Gerrard second half was very good.

I'm finding Carra's form more alarming than Sammi's tbh. Hope Agger is mature enough to drag him through it when he gets back in the team.
