On Mathew St today. He was looking well and with his missus and their girl. He's very charismatic.

Saw them a while ago in Costco on the dock road. Was buying his little girl a massive play set. Amazing that quite a few of our players who aren't from Liverpool end up staying in the area.

He was walking round like he owned the place in a s*** t-shirt which might have had a stain on it, trackie bottoms and flip-flops and was the coolest man around for miles. He does own the place. That's why I reckon he's still here.

He is often in the Living Room with his daughters "doing lunch." I often see him coming out with his long, black Matrix coat on looking very dapper indeed.

I would go so far as to say he looks flash, on occasion, but his daughters often look embarrassed to be seen with him. Whether it's his dress sense, his charisma, his obvious affection for the countless forty somethings who approach him for a quick chat or whether it's just their age, I don't know.

It's nice to see him Mingling with the Normal Folk on a weekday afternoon, though.

I saw Phil Thompson near Castle Street today. Many a passing Evertonian was singing "There goes Pinocchio" after his good self.

Must've made their day.

If you played football like he did, you earn that right.

He's probably lost a few stone from all that ballroom dancing :D

Interesting you saying that - I met him a few years back at the John Moores Prize announcements and thought the same thing - charismatic.

John Barnes is f***ing great. I met him outside the Living Room once, ages ago now though. I say met him, I wasn't looking where I was going and walked into him. S**t meself, thought this big fella was gonna kick me head in, I realised who it was and said "f***ing hell, you're John Barnes" "That's right" "You're boss, you" "Thank you" then he shook me hand and went in the pub. Made my year that.

And his show is the best thing on TV.

I love John Barnes.

How good would it be if he played for us now in his prime. We are crying out for someone exactly like him.

Barnes didn't have a "prime". He had a "pomp". It's a subtle yet crucial distinction.

I'm afraid genius like that only happens once a generation..

If we had him on our books circa 87-90 we'd win everything.

He's a good guy, but that's pushing it.

Eh, I meant now in reply to the post above me..

Well the European ban stopped us winning our second favourite trophy?

the most talented player ever to play for us?

Yes. Without a doubt. Individually brilliant. he could destroy a team on his own.

King Kenny was different, a team player and made the players around him reach better heights then they could've ever managed.
